Was Cedar Point packed on Opening Day 2004?
I'm planning on going up on opening day, and wanted to know how the crowds looked in the past.
I don't know about OD, but the weekend after was SWEET! Headed there this year as well, the first full operating weekend, May 13, 14, & 15.

Im going May 13 and the weekend after Opening week is pretty good on most years.
Goodbye 2005 season!!!!
That's what I thought. My parents felt that the weekend of the 13th would be awesome.
Thanks, I'll have to make some adjustments!
I went opening day 04. http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=1060 (look for the red hat in the middle).
It really wasn't packed. My dad and I got there really early (which helps) and got a really good spot in front of the crowd. The day day was mild (a little nippy) but that wasn't a problem.
I too am going on Opening day 05 and hope the weather will be a little bit better than last year. *** Edited 3/17/2005 11:51:27 PM UTC by TTD 120mph***

I didn't think it was all that packed (definitely not as bad as a Saturday during the summer), but you have to remember that Opening Day is the first day for all the crews, and so the rides are not operating anywhere near capacity.
I thought everthing was running fine. Altough I'll admit that I never seen Dragster rollback as many times as it did in one day. But even the wait for it wasn't bad. It really picked up after 10:45. *** Edited 3/18/2005 12:01:42 AM UTC by TTD 120mph***

The crews really are not "up to speed" untill late June, from what I have seen.

I'll be there the 8th. Geuaga Lake the night of the 7th. One of my goals is to be at a park opening morning. ;)
If you look in the Trip Reports forum, there are several reports from opening day last year.
I'm coming May 8th in the afternoon starlight ticket and May 9th.

Not to be negitive but I'm hoping for partly cloudy cold. The colder it is the less crowds there are. Anything other than rain is good.

A light on and off drizzel usually makes for a great day actually, nothing closes and it scares a lot of people off. I got 6 MF rides in an hour last season, the queue started a little bit before the fast pass entrence. I also got more consecutive Wicked Twister rides than I can count, including a few with just my friend and I on the train.

And cold weather means more Dragster rollbacks. As sad as it may or may not sound I've never had one.
But I will this year!!

Rain is not a bad thing if you are staying there as a resort guest. You simply return to your cabin/cottage/site/hotel room until it stops. Then head over and enjoy a nearly empty park. :)
