Opening Day

Sorry if this is a repeat topic, my search brought up way to many pages to sift through.

I have never gone to an opening day at CP, let alone one when a new coaster is debuting.  What are crowds like on opening day?

If you haven't gone to opening day, do go at least once.

No, don't go to opening day! Nobody go to opening day! Stay away ;)

Last year it wasn't bad at all. Frontier Town was more like a ghost town. But it was a bit chilly that day.

Unknown what opening day with WT will be like, It's not its a super huge giga-coaster or anything. Opening day is usually just the enthusiasts and locals, any maybe some schools (some proms are held in early may). Generally, people don't take their family vacations in early May to CP when it's still fairly cold out.

last year wasn't a debut year either..I recall 2000 and a certain big blue ride having a 7 hr line stretching back to raptor...In fairness to CP though only one train was running...I have pics to prove it..;)

Fear the Mullet!

Not too bad but I would get an early start!

Wicked Twister Rocks
I'm still relatively new to all this coaster-hype (this will be my 2nd full season), but my take is that in 2000 you had the biggest rollercoaster in the world opening and everyone wanted to be apart of it. The "I rode ____ on opening day" people...the "I was on the (1st, 2nd, 3rd) train ever" people...but this year it's Wicked Twister. Yeah it's going to be great, but a lot of people I've talked to (friends, co-workers,etc.) in the area have been to SFWoA and have ridden Superman, aren't too impressed of what CP is getting, and if this is the sentiment amongst the rest of the GP, then Opening Day will not be too bad at all, and they'll wait until the weather gets much better before spending their money. If it was another "huge" coaster, or even a world-class full circuit coaster, I'm sure the crowds would be much heavier.

Then again, I could be totally wrong. Afterall, this is only my 2nd year. :)

Thanks for the link, Duane.  I KNEW someone here would find it for me.  It's funny that I've been going to CP for 36 years and have NEVER gone on opening day, even with season passes

I may just have to try it this year.

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

If you are in the Joe Cool Club (and I am reading this correctly), you get in a half hour earlier than the GP opening day.
I would want to be there for an opening day, but I would rather be there fro the summer.  That way it would be hot and I could actually ENJOY all the water rides.  Plus, for some odd reason, I like palces, like amusement parks, when not to much, but alot of ppl are there. Still it would be cool to be there for the very first day, early in the morning, seeing all the coasters waking up. Yah.that would be cool. All I need now is a car, a license, and some cash...and I woudl be there. lol.

Cedar Point is the best. I will never stop loving it. You gotta, You wanna, You have to hold on...Cedar point hold on!! :) :) :)
Our family tends to go later in the season when it is warmer. Many times in May, it tends to be a bit chilly. Don't let me influence you too much, you go ahead and go whenever you want to.
