On Ride Music

Do you think Cedar Point will ever have or add speakers to their coasters for an "on ride" music experience.. I've ridden some coasters in Florida that have this and it definately adds an element of excitement with rock music blasting in your ears as you zooming along..

I personally don't like it and find it annoying. Roller coasters can already be loud, I don't really enjoy music blasting in my ears at the same time.

I've never been on one with music, but if it's a good enough coaster thrill-wise then music would be unnecessary

^^Which rides have your ridden with On ride Music? Disney does a fantastic job, especially if you ever get a chance to ride Space Mountain at Disneyland. That adds a lot to the ride. However what Six Flags has done to their rides to include on-ride music is like someone randomly changing the radio station. Not sure what the point of having that on the ride.

The music on Windseeker definitely adds to the enjoyment! There is a tune similar to the Star Wars theme and one that sounds like the Harry Potter music. Of course, it can be hard to hear the music with me hollering "I'm the king of the world!!"
Love that Windseeker!

Those are both film scores done by the great John Williams, also Superman theme song was on there among others. He's the best music composer for films ever.

Aerosmith rollercoaster has there songs on that coaster at Disney but the best one was the rip rocket rollercoaster at universal (They let you pick from hundreds of choices as your going up the lift hill on a keypad)... Was pretty cool listening to Motley Crue "Kickstart My Heart" while zooming over the park...

I kinda feel like audio on rides is just kind of a fad within the amusement industry, kind of like 3D in the movie industry. Even rides such as Terminator have had their audio taken out. Imagine how quick we could see that happen if it were on a roller coaster at CP.

For a coaster to have audio on it, it needs to have a heavy theme to really be worth it IMO. It works really well with Rock n Roller Coaster at Disney World, but just adding on-board audio to something like Millennium Force is nothing more than a gimmick.

I totally agree. Bizarro at Six Flags New England is a perfect example of that. Honestly I think it would distract riders from the ride if music were in the background.

When on-board audio is synchronized to the ride elements, it can really enhance a roller coaster the same way a film score improves a movie. I love the how the music of Space Mountain builds up the anticipation as the train climbs the lift, or the way California Screamin's music sounds playful over it's bunny hops. Disney's version of on-board audio is done exactly right, even if the ride isn't heavily themed (Screamin').

When on ride music doesn't really do much good is when it just jumps around like a broken radio station or just plays a song without regard to the action happening on the course. That's where I see it as a gimmick.

I find the on-board audio in this video just annoying.

I agree maverick00, I'm not sure I could ride that coaster twice. After I heard that for the first time I would be looking for another coaster to ride in that park.

I might feel different if it was music.

This isn't even music, its just a bunch of soundbites and yes that is extremely annoying.

It would make sense if they were sound bytes that had to do with superman.... but that was just nonsense.

I love Rock-n-Roller Coaster but that would just annoy the crap out of me. With very few exceptions, a great coaster doesn't need anything extra to enhance it.

I don't think any of the coasters at cedar point would work well. Except for maybe TTD. I wouldn't want music, just sound effects. Like playing the noise of the car taking off, like they already play, except continue it on the ride with a noise of a dragster car. I think that would be cool

I haven't been on Superman/Bizarro, and given its reputation as arguably better than MF, it's always been near the top of my list. I saw the above POV a while back, however, and sadly, I'm much less interested. The soundbites seem stupid and annoying, and moreover, very distracting from what appears to be a solid ride.

It's a roller coaster, for crying out loud. Its intensity should speak for itself. I shouldn't have to be encouraged to enjoy myself through a soundtrack.

The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.

That above POV is Bizarro at Great Adventure. You're thinking of Bizarro at New England that ranks close with MF. Here's the POV of Bizarro at New England which also has the same, annoying on-board audio.
