On missing threads and expressing your opinions

Over the course of last week, a number of different threads suddenly disappeared from the forum, because they were deleted by the user. One of the features we allow for is to delete your own threads. This generally is useful when someone accidentally starts a new topic that is a duplicate of another, we close it, and then the user deletes it once they see that.

Topics are never truly deleted, and everything that is closed, opened, deleted, etc., is audited. Moderators can see exactly who did what, and what the contents of the a thread or post were. In other words, we keep everything, and that has been the case for the last year since deploying the current version of the forum.

That said, a user with two accounts, posting from the same IP address, started or contributed to a number of topics that were relatively stupid, and appeared to have an ax to grind with various factions of management at Cedar Fair. As is typical, most of you who actively participate sniffed out the intentions of the user. At some point after that, he or she deleted the topics.

Unfortunately, some good conversation did grow out of at least one of those threads, and it's regrettable that it was deleted. However, I point it out because I don't want anyone to think that we deleted it because it was critical of the company. We generally have been able to trust the community to call out extreme fanboyism or radical agendas as a form of self-moderation.

So we've decided to resurrect one of the deleted threads, though some of the individual posts may have been removed because they were simply noise. Continue to post your well thought out opinions. We welcome them.
