Gemini is weird. It only ever had 6 trains, but there are "parking spaces" enough to keep 5 trains off-line at once...two storage tracks to the left, downtrack of the transfer table, two "parking spaces" on the offline side of the transfer table, and one space on the right, uptrack of the transfer table. Oddly enough, the supports on the right are large enough to accommodate two storage tracks, but there is only one there, lined up for the red side.
A friend has suggested that the ride was originally designed to run 6 trains, but that the original plan was to have 8 trains available (thus the need to be able to park six of them off-line) so that it could ALWAYS run 6 trains even if two were out of service. This person's theory was that Gemini was supposed to be the *only* coaster at Cedar Point's new amusement park in Michigan, the park they never built because they bought Valleyfair! instead.
I have no idea whether this theory is at all valid or not.

Even if they don't need both entrances for capacity of the ride, I don't see what it hurts to have them both open? Load the station from the front and back and it just causes less problems in the station. I'm with Adam on the whole crowded station theory. It just annoys me when people are randomly mingling about and not in an actual queue. Then again, my friends and I know to just squeeze through all the people and go to the front where no one is waiting.
