Old Frontiertown or New Frontiertown?

Over the past few years Frontiertown has gotten a lot of work done and it has always been one of my favorite areas of the park. So do you like the old Frontiertown better or the newer one?

Older Frontiertown:

-It was definetly more quiet and more full of fooliage

-Swan Boats

-White Water Landing

-A few other things

New Frontiertown:

-Maverick

-Chik-Fil-A

-Skyhawk

-New Basketball game by the railroad tracks

-etc.

If you think about it, Frontiertown a few years ago had more charm, but I think CF has done a good job on making that area more fun. What do you all think?

I like the new one better. You now have arguably one of the best coasters ever, (Maverick) a good flat, (Skyhawk) and another food joint. It may be more quiet, but aern't amusement park supposed to be loud and filled with rides? An amusement park with just trees and a few "quiet rides" would be boring.

I like the new one. It just needs a GCI.

i like maverick, skyhawk, etc but hate the theme. Im just not one for old time/wild west themes. It's a great theme, if your into that kind of thing.

First rollback=opening weekend '09

Just remember, Cedar Fair doesn't do well with Themes.

I like it the way it is now, walking down the trail and hearing Millie going down the first hill and as you get closer to maverick you can hear its roar in the tunnel. WOW CHILLS i cant wait. But i miss when it was a quiet little walk before Millie and Maverick.

Well, myself I liked the old Frontier Town myself. It was a nice quite break from all the noise of the main part of the park. I miss Aunt Em's Kitchen and the chicken; the Swan Boats; the quite place back there where a person could get a little break before they start riding again.

Why not like old west theme? I like it the ways it is, and It will be more cool with the LED lights up at night! I like LED lights, especially in blue :).

FT still has the charm, as long as they STOP CUTTING DOWN MORE TREES! Trees make that area really nice and peaceful. I like strolling down there after it rains. The wet midway pavement looks like a reflective water surface. Just watch out for those crazy thunder canyon people running around with their clothes and other junk spread out all over the place. (That's the only thing that takes away from the nice atmosphere.)

I love them both! I know I am so happy that the Maverick joined the Coaster fun! I know that I would be sad if they took out any more trees! I loves trees in a park! I know when I was at Kings Dominion last year, the trees were nice to keep coll when it was 90 degrees out!

I loved the old frontier town with the frontier trail as the only way to get back there. Then came the modifications to the lagoons, making the western cruise a short little non-event. Then Milli took over the trail. I miss the old park, but the time has come and gone, it is time give up on the trail and make the park easier to get around. The new frontiertown is excatly what the park needs, but I still miss the time when Gemini was the biggest in the park.

I remember when the Gemini seemed soo big! My friend was so scared when she rode it! She was so scared that I still have the scars on my arm where she dug her nails in my arm! Good times!

I liked the old Frontiertown from my time as a kid in the late 80's early 90's, but I would have loved to seen it in the 60's and 70's.

The CP&LE RR used the be the only to Frontiertown when it opened in 1968, then came the lift, and then the trail.

In terms of atmosphere and theming, I think the 1995 season was Cedar Point's peak.

You had the quite lagoon stroll along the Dragster midway before Chaos entered the scene, and then later Dragster, you had Jungle Larry's across the way from that, the pirate ride by blue streak, Kid Aurthor's court at the front of the park by Kiddy Kingdom which completed that theme well, the aquarium and Oceana on that same midway, and Frontier Trail extended all the way from Frontier Town to Funway Train Station. (Pre-Mantis and MF)

Of course, all those new rides weren't there, so it certainly is a give and take when it comes to park improvements. Progress, progress, progress!

I like the old one because it felt bucolic and had an "untapped" feeling to it. For me, it created a sense of peninsular history, a reminder of what life was like before the space was developed.

Although, I must admit, I think the new stuff they've put in looks pretty cool. The things I miss being marooned in Cambridge...

Frontier Town had a very remote feel to it when it first opened, with the train the only way in and out. Frontier Town actaully opened in 1967, not 1968, and consisted of the buildings on the left side when you get off the train and Shoot-The-Rapids on the right side. I believe Frontier Town ended somewhere around where the Three Point Shootout is now. The antique cars, museum, Mine Ride, etc all came in later years.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Sorry, in the history of the railroad we have one paragraph says 1967 and the next says 68. I had typed 67 and then changed it but now I know!

Funny thing is, when I was a kid in the early 70s, I hated the frontier trail. It was such a long walk, and my mom had to stop at every shop because each were unique. It seemed to take forever. I alway knew when we made it to the glass blowing show, we were close to the end. Now lookng back, I love the memories of fronteir town and the trail.

I think when they removed the frontier lift, that marked the start of the change from the old to the new.
