Anyone else remember this?

"Cedar Point is the cure for the summer-time blues...."

I still sing that song in my head every time I go! Even though I think I was about 8 or 9 years old when that was the commercial.

How about "CEDAR POINT! Where every day is FUN DAY!"

I remember.

Don't forget about "The AMAZEment Park".

Yes, I remember that one well as a little kid. Wasn't there a part of the commercial with Demon Drop riders returning back to the station with their hair all standing straight up?

Yes we do.

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news:-) the song is not the final countdown, its Sirius by Allen Parsons Project. It was the Bulls theme song.

Ahhhhh C.P. My Happy Place!

I still wish someone had a copy of the "kid on the sled" commercial.

That was by far the BEST CP commercial ever.

Got to concur, that commercial was awesome. I would also like to see the one from....2001? Where it was like

"You Wanna, You Have to, You gotta hold, for Cedar Point, Hold ON!"

That was a classic as well, still think about it.

I remember the song "Cedar Point's the cure for the Summertime Blues." How about that old commercial for Magnum when it opened: It was something like "My, my, my..Looks who's riding Magnum," and it had POV of the train climbing the hill. -That's some good stuff!

It's not commercials, but how about those trash cans that had images of CP rides on them, like Giant Wheel, Gemini, and Corkscrew. Others near the front of the park featured "The Amazement Park" insignia. And how about those old parking lot markers that were named after the rides? -That also some really good stuff!

I don't know what's more amazing... the fact that Gemini had no seat belts or Cedar Point had a decent ad agency :).

Gemini 100- 6/11/01

I think its more amazing that Gemini's lapbars looked like they had locked in the "up" position at the time. Or at least the commercial made it look that way.

I thought the Demon Drop and the Gemini videos were the coolest. Something about the rides being evil really makes me want to ride them.

The thing that struck me watching those old promos was that the old advertisements were so much better then the new promos I've seen in the last decade or so.

Especially the "Great Park, Great Lake, Great Day" ad. They really promoted what is the essence of Cedar Point, the fact that it has probably the most spectacular natural setting of any amusement park in the world. And that it is a great place to take the family.

Recent TV ads seem so lame in comparison.

Here's an interesting clip from 30 years ago:

I honestly hated when they removed all those ride-specific "characters" that detailed the warnings and such. I thought they added...well, character.

good video clip,Robin Innes of 30 years ago.

I've got old stuff stored/archived digitally,

-Gemini commercial
-an 80s' commercial
-Magnum commercial
-Raptor promo

-95 winter coming sled commercial
-04 CP song

I can't see the video but will never forget Demon Drop's commercial "demon drop! demon drop!", especially since the guy looked like my brother's friend, made me laugh every time I saw it on TV.
