Old Cedar Point Book

Here is an old Cedar point book I found in a box of old brochres of my late Aunt's.. I thought it was kinda neat.

WOW that is actually quite neat. I am sure I have seen older pictures of the park (this one isn't THAT old...), but I have never seen these particular photos, if I remember correctly.

They are both quite neat for their own reasons...

I like the first one because I know that I am too young to EVER have seen a Cedar Point like what is shown...

And the overhead view in the second one is quite neat...you can see how the entire front of the park developed into what it is today...where the games are located, where the employee parking is, where the new carrousel is located, the picnic areas, etc etc.

Quite cool!

Looks like it was free to get in, i do not see an entrance gate anywhere. It is very nice to see all the trees around the park to, something we do not have alot of today. Looks like Blue Streak is brown, maybe the pick is not color accurate. I love to see these old pics of cedar point. I think we need a section on here of all the older pics that are out there cause they can be hard to come by.

I believe Blue Streak was not actually blue in it's first few years of operation.

Blue Streak was not "blue" until the 70's, I believe.

I believe, but am not 100% sure, that the picture on the cover, of a Western Cruise boat traversing the lagoon, was taken from the "peaceful Indian village", which I think stood in what was then a slight bend in the lagoon. I think if you looked straight ahead down the lagoon from the village, on past the back of the boat, you'd be looking at the curve in the lagoon where the CCMR skims just above the water.

It would be about where Chaos once stood or, if you prefer, where the Paddlewheel Excursion boats come alongside TTD as you make the last turn.

I'm too young to remember when Jungle Larry's was actually an island (although I was alive at that time), but I think this scene was at the edge of what used to be that island--the boats veered to the right as they followed the lagoon, taking them toward what is now the Iron Dragon's final helix. *** Edited 1/22/2006 6:40:53 PM UTC by Western Cruiser***

Wow, look at how many trees there were.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

It would be nice to have more trees around CP... I mean, when they put in Dragster, they took out quite a bit, did they not?

I could remember that great atmosphere where there was Troika, Corkscrew Refreshments, Dogems, and the Jungle Larry area. That really was a "jungle" at one time.
