Oktoberfest

Has anybody went to Oktoberfest at GL? I read what they had on the website, but have a few things that I want clarified...

First (and most important), when they say 'vendors', do they mean the foods people will make the special German dishes, or do they allow outside vendors to take root on the midways to sell their tasty confections? Is it a popular or is it something that is just to try to get a bigger crowd? Are the rides still open? Finally, if you've gone to this event, was it something that you'd do again or was it just so-so?

21st is in September, and I'm getting ready >:-)

They bring in yummy outside vendors. The park smells heavenly during Octoberfest and the rides are open. We went last year and the lines for the rides were non-existant early in the day. It seemed to get more crowded as the day wore on but the lines never got bad. (I think people gomore for the food and beer than the rides) However, the midways get really crowded. The main midway is narrow to begin with and put vendors the down the middle and down the one side they get very narrow. Hopefully they will figure out a better way to set the vendors up to relieve the congestion.

Beer and coasters

there is no better combination.

Yeah, combination for frequent vomiting. I'll admit to having been fairly intoxicated while riding before, but certain rides will kick your ass in a way that's not comfortable. It's worse at night. I could barely take Magnum, and I would never try something like Raptor.

What time does the water show start?

Oktoberfest is the best time to go to the park. The food is awesome and the entertainment rocks. How will CF run it? No one knows but I would assume it would be better then SF. Also Im hoping CF allows us employees to purchase food from vendors like SF did(mainly because the clubhouse was turned into a stage area for live polka bands).

I wonder if it will be called Hallowweekends now, or if that is just CP's thing? That is something to ponder.

Why don't you look on the website? Not very hard to find.

You obviously can't read...

"First (and most important), when they say 'vendors', do they mean the foods people will make the special German dishes, or do they allow outside vendors to take root on the midways to sell their tasty confections?"

Ergo when I read the webpage I needed some clarification on the whole event b/c it wasn't very specific. Thanks.

From what I heard CP employees *might* be able to get into GL w/ our ID's. If so, HOT HECK I'M THERE! I've still gotta ride 'Superman' (Steel Venom)... darn jerks had it down while we were there *shake of the angry fist*

Edit: This isn't HTML formatting and I thought it was... corrected that.

Ben, I think Sam's comment was directed at LOTR, not you.

Ben: Save the insults, because you'll "obviously" get crap from me if you don't.

Oktoberfest is fine the way it is, don't go and try to change it. The crowds are usually light on FRI and SUN. Most years it rains on Fri night. If the weather is nice for Sat it will get crowded, but not like a summer sat crowded. It just seems crowded because the water park is closed and people tend to mill around on the midway. I would say if you go to a park once in a year go for the Oktoberfest in Aurora, Ohio at GLP.
REMEMBER the first sunday of Oktoberfest is closed to the public. Progressive bought the park out. Hence the 2nd weekend for the first time in well....the 4 years ive worked there.

second weelend, now that's silly
Ben, if you were insulting me, you probably didn't see the post before mine. I was pointing out how lazy LOTR/CPfan was, that he was asking questions that could obviously be answered on the website. I was not commenting on your post.

As you seem to be a seasoned GTTP veteran, I expect you to ask questions that the website doesn't answer. I have no problem with that. My problem was with LOTR/CPfan not looking and seeing that information about what the event was called, etcetera, was on Geauga Lake's website.

So may I please have an apology? Here is one from me: I'm sorry for not pointing out my comment was about LOTR/CPfan, as I probably assumed that would be obvious, as my post was right after his. Maybe it wasn't as obvious as I thought. :(

Anyway, back to work,

Sam

I assume that they have it again. Perhaps I should see if it's on the company intranet somewhere. Progressive employs about 15,000 people in the Cleveland area, so even if half were to show up and each brought two family members, that's a pretty good day for that park.

Geez, it is not like he hurt my feelings. I just don't like how it may have been assumed that I was talking about him. I was not.

As far as we've been told Jeff no companies have pulled out from company outings. This include Cleveland Clinic, which FYI will be the Sunday of CoasterCon. Ya'll might wanna head up to the Point that day. But on our calenders we received its still a private event for the first Sunday of Oktoberfest. Progressives buyout last year was HUGE. Packed.

I really am sorry. I really did think it was directed at my original post...

When I read the post before yours I went over it really fast b/c like you said, it was a question that is very easily remedied with a few clicks and a typed line or two... That's why I thought you were talking to me (and partially why sometimes quoting the post before yours is sometimes necessary even though you get yelled at sometimes for doing it *looks in Jeff's general direction*).

In any case, I am sorry for the insult... it was uncalled for. I don't want to try to dust it under the rug like I had a reason for doing it, so I'm not going to. But I am sorry... Sometimes people on this thread can get nasty and for some reason when I feel like people are being nasty to me I'm nasty back... I guess this backfired in this instance!

Sorry again! (Now back to study Organic .....)

EDIT: Sometimes I don't get to check this for a week at a time, so I had some catching up to do... If I rant online I rant for like 1 or 3 posts, then forget it and do something else. In any case you didn't piss me off *that* much...
