Off-topic: PKI question

Since i cant find a PKI forum out there wit hany activity (im sure im not looking in the right areas), im curious if they had renamed the Bat as Top Gun. Its been like14 years since ive been to PKI.

There is no coaster named the bat at PKI. There is a coaster called top gun. It is a suspened coaster under the track.

Actually, The Bat was a whole different roller coaster made by Arrow Dynamics. It was Arrow’s first suspended roller coaster. It was built in 1980, and opened in 1981. The Bat had many problems and was under constant repair for about 1/3 of the time the park was opened. PKI took it down in 1984 due to heavy maintenance and structural damage. Arrow built a new ride (Vortex) that now stands in The Bat’s place.

Top Gun is another Arrow Suspended Ride, that had an old name (I can’t recall what it was) before they re-themed the park.

Alex, you're about 99% correct. You are wrong in that Top Gun was the first ride added after Paramount bought the place (though it was contracted while KECO was still doing management), so while KECO/NAFG might have announced a different name for the coaster, the day it opened it was Top Gun. One thing that has changed, though...the track used to be red.

If you look closely at the Vortex station, you can see the cut-outs above the storage tracks where the spine of the suspended coaster track was supposed to go through. Vortex loads from the Bat's station.
