Hey there. Posting from Firefox 1.5.05 on Ubuntu Linux (Dapper) and wanted to give a heads up that the topics list view and the messages view are all farked up.
The table containing the list of topics/messages gets moved over about 1/3 of the way to the right and the login box gets buried behind the table with the content.
The fact that you're the one in 20,000 visitors a day to use that browser and OS combination should probably give you an idea of how urgent the "problem" really is.

Well, thanks for caring, I guess.
Have an issue, question or suggestion for us? We'd love to hear from you.
Right.

Thought I would throw this in. I dont have any problem using the same setup as you described. Im not an experienced linux user, I just run game servers on it. But I honestly dont have any problems. Not sure if it would help but if you right click in empty space there is an option to reverse page direction for left handed people it may make it look halfway decent.

Linux is to hard why not just use Windows or Mac that does things for you?
This has nothing to do with Linux being hard or not being hard.
Most distros are as GUI friendly as MacOS and Windows now anyways.
I've had problems with Firefox on Linux too.
Simple solution was just to use Konqueror.
(You shouldn't be using Gnome anyways! :-) )
I'm not all that familer why a lot of computer people like Linux so much.
I agree that Windows is a giant headache. I've never had a instance where "everything" on my PC worked at one time.
Mac OS X sounds great, other than the fact that 75% of software out there doesn't work on it. The fact that Mac's don't have viruses or spyware (knock on wood) and they come with iLife and other great Apple made software, makes them right them right for me. Now I just need the money.
I agree with Jeff on this one though. My web design program tells me that some things on my site bring up errors on Netscape browser. I don't fix it because Netscape is old. Firefox works great for me, I've heard good things about Opera 9, and IE 7 beta is an improvement, but you can't trust the people who made IE 6.

You shouldn't be using Gnome anyways!
I usually don't. It's actually Ubuntu Server Edition, which is, basically, a stripped down install with a LAMP pre-installed. I installed Gnome later (it's less pretty than KDE but still gets stuff done) just so that I could set up remote desktop sharing and be able to tunnel out of my corporate network at work.
For what it's worth, I use Firefox on every computer I use or own and I still get the "object moved to here" thing every time I log in to pointbuzz or coasterbuzz. That also happens on Netscape (since, uh, the Mozilla browsers /are/ Netscape). I guess there aren't enough people using those wacky Mozilla browsers to even consider looking at it, though.
Get over yourself Gilman. You're complaining to complain, knowing that I'm not going to do anything about it. You've got a nice long (and boring) history of being a pain in the ass. I could care less that 0.1% of users have formatting issues.

If I'm such a pain in the ass why the hell have you let me stick around for so long?
I reported a bug. You're the one that chose to say "screw you" about it. I never said "omg, it's a problem fix it."
You just assumed I was being a whiny little kid about. I wasn't.
I'm not the one that needs to do the self hurdling.

The object moved here is much better than ERROR. If it still works, why fix it?

Configuring a site to the major OS/Browser setups is enough of a pain in ass.
I know I don't have the time nor patience to program for those who dig themselves into a Linux hole. Many of the sites that work on your configuration probably do so more by accident then anything else.
I personally don't have much but good things to say about the linux kernal, but I can do without many of it's users.
By the way, posts like the following does little other than annoy pretty much anyone who reads it.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about then you probably shouldn't care, don't you think?
Jeff,
This has nothing to do with me but since we're on the internet and everyone has an opinion i'll give mine too.
If you were to reword the things you say they wouldn't come off as being such an ass. Anytime you try and tell someone something you try to act as if they're below you and less important. If you're going to make the statement...
Have an issue, question or suggestion for us? We'd love to hear from you.
...then don't belittle someone when they bring something like this up. If you have a personal problem with "Michael Darling" then deal with that in private because making statements as such just make you look like a bigger jerk than already percieved.
I'm not pulling crap out of thin air, you have done the same to me also when I was just trying to be helpful. When you know full well that there's a problem with the site hanging once in a while and people are double posting it's due to clicking the submit button more than once because they don't think it goes through. I made a post just letting everyone to know not to click submit more than once, just to wait and it'll go through. You lock the thread and give me...
Jeff isn't aware of anything. Since when did someone leave you in charge?
As you can see if you look back at the thread, I was just trying to be helpful and you ARE aware there's a problem with the site. Do I need to bring back the "waiting for Pointbuzz..." thread? There was no reason you had to "punk" me out like that when I wasn't attempting to suggest to close a thread or ban someone. Merely trying to give people a suggestion so they don't have a problem with multiple postings.
I have no personal problem with you Jeff, just trying to suggest to reword things a little differently and your world may be a little brighter. You can take it how you may, you'll probably delete the post and/or lock this thread but whatever....I tried.

Don't act like you know me. Gilman makes it a point to be a pain in the ass. For years now he comes here and finds something to complain about, yet keeps coming back.
"Boo hoo, Jeff picks on me." Get over it.
