Oct 19th Mantis Festivities

The "last stand" on Mantis happens Sunday, October 19.

And we know how important the last ride is to those who love coasters.

So we've got a few things planned for that day.

First things first. The funsies.

Everybody wins.

All guests who ride Mantis on Sunday, October 19 will receive one of these buttons:

And then there's the very last ride.

Throughout the day, you'll be looking for employees wearing these around their necks (red on one side, blue on the other):

This is your ticket to the last ride ever on what is currently known as Mantis, but will soon be formerly-known-as. In order to receive one, you'll have to say, "I would like to take the last stand on Mantis" to the employee wearing it. If the phrase is incorrect, you won't receive the ticket.

There will be two "final" trains. Employees have them in no particular order, so when you find one, your ticket will have your train assignment on it. No trade-ins. Please don't fight. Fighting is naughty.

In total, 64 riders will join us. And all 64 will receive:
A complimentary group photo, taken on the platform, complete with commemorative printing
A Mantis prize pack, including Mantis merchandise
Bragging rights as the last guests to stand up
So, make plans to join us on Sunday, October 19. At the very least, you'll get a souvenir from Mantis' last day and be the last guests to experience this ride as a stand-up coaster!

Anyone Going to Go?

For those of you who didn't do your last ride when Mantis was a walk on all summer, you too can wait 1-2 hours just to ride it for the last time! :)

Mantis was a walk-on yesterday. Think the last day will draw in a higher than average crowd?

And I made. A special Sunday trip up yesterday to make sure I got a final ride on it since I usually only go up on Friday nights during Halloweekends....oh well, no trip to the point is wasted.

Awesome that it'll actually be open on a Friday night! Fridays are my favorite days to go since I never really spend more than 4 hours in the park at once. If only Gemini were open also... :) I still plan on going to the park on the 19th. The game plan is to get in as early as possible and scope out those Mantis tickets!

I am surprised more people aren't discussing this! I am very curious to see what you people think about Mantis' last day in terms of expected crowds, how busy the park will be, and speculation about the last ride tickets for Mantis!

I'll be there early for Mantis riding and get a button.I'm not interested in trying to get a last ride ticket.I remember how good Mantis was in 1996 before that first hill brake was installed for the 1997 season.
