Now v. 2000

I went on MF in 2000 and it was immediatly my #1. Is it running better or worse now than it did in 2000? I looked at this picture and I thought to myself "Oh no its already aging". Is it still as fast? Still as fun? Still as awesome as it used to be? I really can't wait to go on it but I'm afraid that it won't be as good as before. What do you think?
That pictures from 2001.And its The Same

400+ft by 2003? only Cedar Point can answer.

It running as fast, just can be a little sloppy at times I feel.

As for the paint it is a bit rusty and faded. It looks somewhat dull compared to 2000.

It's Really dull.Cedar Point having Millenium Force as a signature ride should have it re-paint and tuched up religusly. If i were manager i would have a spot in the buget just to take care of it...last time i rode it was Really tight feeling no slop.unlike magnum wich u see the turn but keep going strait and the u bounce into the side of the rail..Thats my thoughts and views

There are more rides and coasters that need new paint jobs before MF gets one. *cough*Magnum*cough*
Maybe so, but since MF is pretty new it could use some work to make it look better
I think so too. I was there 3 weeks ago and from the q line, you could see where they tried to paint some stuff over that wasn't the right color.it is looking pretty dull, but how much does it cost to get something that huge painted? I also think that Mantis needs a paint job too, it is looking Really dull. But for me, MF is still as great as it always was. It was never rough or anything and is still my #1 coaster!
What's the big deal about paint? The ride looks fine, could it be that those pictures look dull because of the camera? Perhaps bad lighting? Geeze...

No, the paint in general has dulled quite a bit.

Maybe the touch up paint is so off because they want it to fit in when the rest of the paint dulls. ;)

Ok, the paint has faded...and until they paint it, it's just not going to be the same.

Craig, I swear I can feel a difference in MF with the faded paint. Plus the visual imagery of the unkept ride destimulates my psychological impression of the ride, thus ruining the enjoyment.

Is it true that WT had a rollback?

Muhahaha

I won't be happy until they paint it purple with pink supports.

-Craig

Haha...
Yeah, it is faded a bit, but it's also one of the newer coasters, and I'm sure they are probably going to focus on painting the older coasters first.
You can notice the fading the most at the final overbanked turn, you can even see the silver a bit.
Digital Daredevil- Maybe you can look at the scenery while riding MF rather than the paint job, for now :)

First off, Cedar Point fans have nothing to complain about. :) The great Six Flags Great America has a lot more issues with paint. I have a few pictures of the nearly year old Deja Vu sporting what looks to be a paint job that could have only been done by a few rollers of blue paint, many shades too light for the coaster itself. I'd get the picture up on the net, but I don't currently have anywhere to put it...

(That said, I am a Cedar Point fan, and my home park is SFGAm...)

And yes, WT suffers from rollbacks on nearly every journey. So sad to see a coaster like that go to waste... They didn't even finish it... :) (That sounded a lot funnier before I saw it on the computer...)

I really don't think they should be concerned with paint until it really gets out of hand. That's the last thing the public has on their mind, and frankly, no one's getting out of line after they see a few splotches of silver here and there.

After being at the Point this weekend, Magnum and Mantis are the two coasters in dire need of paint. I mean, from a good distance away you can tell how badly faded those two are. Millennium Force, in comparison, I could only see the faded/touched up parts when I was in the queue.

Millie does need paint, but I agree with anyone who said Mantis needs it more. You can see how bad that looks from a distance.

If they touch Millie up, I'm sure it'll only be the track by the station/line. You can't really see if paint is needed on the hills over the tunnel, and the rest of the ride is just too far out to tell even if it did need paint. The supports look fine though...

Don't Fight It-Ride It!

There have been many phases to Mantis' paint problems.

First, all the colors faded within a few years of its being. Then the reddish pink turned into a really light pink. The supports also faded a lot. Then the pinkish track faded/was worn away showing the white primer on the turn over the station. Now in that same area, you can begin to see the bare metal show through where the primer is being worn away.

It definitely needs it bad. What's the deal with B&M's poor paint longevity? Raptor after 7 years...Mantis really needed it after 4-5 years. But Magnum has lasted a while. It has faded, but it is holding strong at 13 years. Iron Dragon's track is also doing just fine. Was it the number of coats that Arrow used, or was their method of how they applied it more durable?

July 11th: Korn, Puddle of Mudd, and Deadsy

Paint from the early 90's in general was bad. Ever see cars driving around with splotches of paint missing? In the early 90's they had to change the formula of paints to meet federal polution guidelines, they didn't get the right formulas at first. Usually it is greys and blues that have this problem.
