Does anyone else think that this is going to be a normal size coaster. And they have started in May, and let us see it all, becuase its cheaper.
I think construction in the winter is much more difficult and expensive, so If cedar point has lowered it's admission price, they have to make up the cost somehow. They chose to give up certain luxuaries, such as:
Saving full blown construction till winter, after the general public is out of sight.
Not concealing the construction area, and hiding track from guests.
The attendance drops and high gas prices that caused admission price cuts, could also have caused this to be a smaller investment, rather than the complete 'coaster that changes everything' Dick Kinzel Retirement bonanza.
Interested in hearing other opinions.

Is Kinzel still retiring next year? I remember some talk about it not happening due to the huge Paramount aquisition.
If most of the ride is built come December, they don't have to worry about the ugly weather in January and February, and they don't have to pay as many workers. I'm guessing electrical, station work, and theming will be the main things that will be happening during the winter. March and April will begin landscaping and testing.

It could be a possibility, but I doubt it. If you look at the other parks in the cedar fair chain, they havn't added anything big in a couple of years. Remember, they started this project in the off season six months ago. I think that what we have seen to this point is just the tip of the ice burg. I beleave that this project is going to be large. Look for the construction zone to increase in size over the off season. I think that a large lift will go over the mine ride and a portion of the ride will be out on the island. Wouldn't that be cool! Who knows? Guess will find out for sure in a few days.
:Sigh:
Some people will just never be happy.
It's pretty clear that this "iceberg" has quickly caught a case of global warming and isn't getting any bigger. Where's Al Gore when you really need him? (do we ever really need him?)
exit - If we didn't have Al Gore, we wouldn't be talking since he invented the internet. DUH!!!
Then again, we wouldn't have threads like this either. So, maybe that wouldn't have been such a bad thing. :)
I am thinking that this is going to be a small but normal coaster. I am guessing a lift hill to around 100-150ft or so, a drop nearly vertical (perhaps more). Then there will be the launch, because as I said (in another thread), the track that they have in place isnt long enough for a brake stretch, a station, and a launch. I also think that something more is involved that we dont see yet, particularly theming....It's going to need heavy theming.
Wow, you are almost exactly right if you haven't seen the concept art thats pretty good.

I've never been to Cedar Point, but I hear it's nothing special.

I do think it will be a small average coaster. And there is nothing wrong with that. I'm sure it will be a terrific ride. I'm also not just saying that becaused of the leaked concept art, that is most likely false. The ride just seems to be given a limited area.
That was actually concept art for the new steel hypercoaster at Michigan's adventure. You shouldn't talk about it in the Project 2007 forum. Move along.... move along... like I know you do....

Someone likes the All American Rejects (I can see why. That song gets stuck in you head). This thread is very off topic.
Anyways, on the financial part what I think is Cedar Point was planning the coaster being open to the public since they were planning the coaster three years back. To get people in the park, and have them come back for halloweekends. Also I think with gas prices going down (and are expected to go down some more despite any storms in the gulf), I think Cedar Point might figure to announce it September 7. So people will come back for Halloweekends, because gas prices will be lower and Cedar Point will get some money, because people would want to see the ride. Plus, aren't ticket prices cheaper for Halloweekends, I'm not sure about that.
I also, think that they need time to build this coaster. I think there will be new parts on this coaster, and different parts that no other coaster in the world has (yes new technology) and will take time to install. They are just getting the easiest stuff out of the way first I believe. I think all winter they will be working on a coaster
