Not exactly what CF had in mind

Ouch!! Not good news for the stock holders (me being one of them!!) This is off the GOCC website.
Does anyone know what the attendance was for SFWOA was last season?

Cedar Fair, LP

reported that attendance at Geauga Lake

, acquired in April from Six Flags, Inc., was only 700,000 patrons, and that they had expected an attendance of 1.5 million. Geauga Lake also lost $1.8 million in the last quarter. Geauga Lake will announce their new attraction for 2005 on November 10th.

Earnings for the amusement park chain, for the quarter, was $2.02 per share, compared to $2.16 last year, contributable to the problems at Geauga Lake.

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?

Ouch!

Now, earnings were below even what they expected. However, you don't think those Bigshots expected possible lower returns. Plus those 700,000 are paying customers. I got in for free three times last year. If I hadn't gotten in on SFWOA promotions I still would have gone probably and paid. *** Edited 12/1/2004 2:00:17 AM UTC by Fastball84***

Old, old news. And the units are trading hire than they were by at least a buck, almost two, since they mentioned this in the conference call.

I would expect attendance to spike because of the additions. As a stock holder, I wouldn't be concerned with this. Some of the "value" of the park was lost with so little attractions open over there.

CP & LE 95-96

There was low attendance because it was hard to advertise. You really can't run an effective campaign when you take out a large chunk of park, close rides for neccasary maintenance and screw lots of little kids with free tickets. You can't say "well, we changed owners from the the best known amusement park company in the world to a company that unless you pay atttention to CP you would have no clue who they are. No, you can advertise the new waterpark and that will put butts through the gate.
