No Refunds for Season Passes This Year

I just renewed my season pass, and I noticed that this year there was a statement that all sales are final. Although I don't know about 2008, I remember in the past you could always return your voucher, if it had not been processed, for a full refund. (I did this once in 2005, everytime I planned on going, it was almost 90', and I can't stand severe heat).

Is this the first year they are implementing the "all sales final" rule?

I could of swore that it always was like this. Oh well, you buy it a voucher the park does not open your screwed. You took the chance, but really how likely is that?

I Just got a letter back from John McClure with unused voucher I bought for wife's daughter, who unfortunately couldn't make it this summer.
It took over a month to get as I turned it in Labor Day Weekend.

"Please accept our apologies for taking longer than usual to respond to the refund request for your unused season pass voucher.

We do understand there are many reasons that guests may not be able to use a season pass voucher that has been purchased or given to them as a gift.

While we will not be offering a refund for the unused season pass voucher that you requested, we do value your patronage, and desire to keep you as a valued guest. We are happy to offer you an opportunity to upgrade the voucher to use for a 2009 Platinum pass. This one-time opportunity to upgrade can be accomplished by presenting this original letter, the enclosed / returned voucher, and a $20.00 upgrade charge at our Season pass Center once we begin processing passes next spring.

If it is not possible for you to take advantage of this opportunity to upgrade for the 2009 season, you are also welcome to transfer this offer to someone else by designating them by name on this original letter."

What sucks is the $20 upgrade charge when the passes are same price as they were last fall!!

The key word being "SEASON" versus Platinmu. Season passes last year at a discount were $104.95. So, if you are upgrading to a Platinum pass for 2009 including a $20 upgrade charge, you are still only paying the total cost of $124.95. This seems to be $15 less than the discounted rate of $140. So, what is the issue??

It is most likely a semantics issue in the form letter sent out by Admissions.

I trust that Jerry knows the difference between a CP Season Pass and a Cedar Fair PP.

I got my platinum pass refunded about 6 weeks ago. I guess I just got it in before they changed the policy. Hmmm... maybe they've been getting a ton of passes returned this year?

Some people merely follow their dreams. Others hunt them down and mercilessly beat them into submission.

^^^The unused voucher is for a PP which I paid $140 last fall. Renewal cost now is $140. Why do I have to pay an additional fee? It should be a simple exchange: unused 2008 PP voucher = 2009 PP. If prices were higher, I would understand.

Sounds like they are not using the discounted price, rather the $160 price point for the Platinum Pass. (Even though you bought the 2008 pass for $140 and the 2009 pass is currently $140)

Personaly, I would be a little upset at the extra $20, but I would also be happy they are allowing me to do this exchange. They could have said: "Sorry all sales are final." In which case, you would have been out of $140.

If the policy last year allowed for refunds, they should give you a refund!

If you bought the pass with a credit card, I would dispute the charge with the credit card company. Cedar Fair should not be changing the terms of sale after the sale has already been completed!

This isn't the only thing this year that I don't like when it comes to passes.

I noticed that when you buy a pass, they have you to sign a form saying something to the extent of you reading and understanding the terms of use. Just one problem: They don't give you the terms of use. I guess that means they want you to compromise your integrity by lying when you buy your pass.

And I thought Integrity was one of their cornerstones...
