No photography on Gemini?

OK, so I don't have the spiels memorized, but I don't previously remember Gemini's mentioning specifically "no picture taking, so put your cameras away".

Am I adding 2+2 and getting five, or did they add the camera bit this year because you have a direct shot of Area 51 from the turnaround closest to Magnum?

Was it coincidence that Stan Checketts was in the park Monday?

Maybe he had a nice big refund check with him. :)

It's always been a part of it. No picture taking on any rides...

Fair 'nuff Rob. Just hadn't remembered hearing cameras singled out previously. I also didn't hear them specifically mentioned in other spiels. Found it remotely interesting.

And for the record, I did NOT see Gemini run backwards Sunday although I had heard from a very good source that it was likely to happen.

I think it's in the spiel for all rides, but it isn't actually said every time. The Magnum spiel that you are supposed to say according to the manual would take about 2 minutes to get through when there is only 1:20 to get it done. :) I think you are supposed to say "MAGNUM XL-200" at least 10 times! Last year, only a few people specifically said no photography, but it should be understood as part of the "please secure all loose articles as Cedar Point can not and will not be responsible for any items lost or damaged while riding..." Also, if you're keeping your hands down like you're supposed to, you can't take much of a picture. If anything, I remember the ops at Gemini getting the no picture spiel in more often than most other rides. Maybe it was because of that crazy lady snapping pics during the Gemini 100! ;) It was okay by me though since her camera didn't hit me and she told a bunch of babbling idiots to "shut the ^&*( up!" :)

I got busted for taking a picture on the carousel. Just had a brain fart and took one. Almost got beat up by the ride op..... I think they are pretty serious about it.

Get with it or die in the process.....

It's always been that way, as long as I remember. Last year I took a picture on of MF, and it was a really good picture. Maybe someone can get a good pic of area 51.

WHO took pictures during the Gemini 100? (Yea pics of a BLUE TAG (ROS) with hands up going down 1st hill ;))
It is definitely a part of ALL the speils that picture taking is strickly prohibited. On Gemini it's NOT because of area 51, it is for safety issues. I know someone (some Raptor freak that Im sure no one knows ;)) who got "busted" by CP with a pic from MFs 1st drop, thanks to it being posted on a coaster website. During my own Raptor spiel, I would say "put away all cameras since picture taking is not permitted, if you want a picture, buy one of the ones we take of you, if you don't like yours, buy someone elses!" ;)
Oh the memories!!

Speaking of pics of area 51, I finally got to see a picture of it and I had no idea that the Dodgems took up that much land! Do the walls surround just where the Dodgems were or was more land cleared?

The area cleared covered more than just Dodgem I. There used to be a little segment of the midway that went behind the ATM and in front of the ride. There are a couple of photos at http://www.virtualmidway.com/history/attractions/dodgemi.asp that show this.

The wall now is right behind the ATM. Here's an approximate view of where Area 51 is - the white portion is the old Dodgem ride.

I didn't look very hard. Did they nuke those big trees? If so, I'm a little pissed.

SCANDALOUS!

Hands up on first drop!?? NO!

Back on topic:

Yes, it is supposed to be incorporated into every ride spiel in the park. They ARE quite serious about it.

Cedar Point actaully only restricts photography on certain roller coasters. The list of photo-restricted coasters can be found at www.cedarpoint.com.

Ok, try again. I'll bet there's a REAL link to where there's a list of coasters that ALLOW photos. If the CCMR doesn't allow pictures taken on it (and I know for a fact it doesn't) what other coaster does?

I call shenanigans on you, Anonymous.

Alright, Natalie, you got me. I can't find the list. Maybe I dreampt (dreamt?) it.

Ahh, found it. There's a twist, though. Photography may be restricted, but camera's are allowed on board. CP

(Small cameras, such as instamatics and small 35mm cameras may be taken on all rides, except Power Tower, Demon Drop, Corkscrew, Raptor, Mantis, Millennium Force and Wicked Twister, provided the camera may be safely secured in a purse, pocket, sock, or inside the shirt.)

Yes that's different. You are still not allowed to take pictures on rides, just like it was said.

Allowing small, secured cameras != allowing photography

I could never take pictures while riding anyway, even if it was allowed. I'd be too scared that I might drop the camera or something...

they have "bolded" the no picture thing for security reasons. they now even dont allow them on the giant wheel.
