No New Rides will come in 2002, maybe 2003.

Nothing new besides maybe a restaurant, like Jeff has said, will come to Cedar Point next year.  They'd already say something by now, and don't say, "Well, maybe they just want it to be a surprise."  That's pointless.  They WANT people to come to the park, and they'd want to release new info about a ride so they can gain attendence.  All I've heard about 2003 is that they might get either a multi-looping wooden roller coaster since that is the novelty of amusement parks.  I also heard that they might get a coaster like no other.  I frankly just want a simple looping corkscrew coaster.  I mean, everyone is just trying to get this or that, why not get a regular coaster, there's nothing wrong with that.  Oh well, what do you think?

First of all, I think you're wrong.  Like Jeff and many others have said, the reason they haven't announced their 2002 plans is because they're already having a light attendance year.  Announcing an awesome new attraction for next year will give people a reason to not go until next year.

I'm not saying that they'll get this or that, I'm just saying that your logic is flawed...
edit:  I think a lot of people are under the impression that CP always announces their new rides/attractions in July or August.  It's my understanding that the announcements *usually* come very late in the season.
i.e. Sepetember or even later

All I can say is even my grandma has heard CP rumors for the next five years. Let's just wait and hear something official: "Let the experts run the park."

I think you're insane and am expecting another great coaster at the park.

Mikey :)

P.S. I think it has been explained before that the park will try to hold off on the announcement as long as they can, so as to not influence people to come to the park next year instead of this year. Attendance has been low, didn't ya hear. :)

I think they are holding off on the announcement because of attendence. It should be sometime in October.

Just one question....
How do you know?
You made no indication in your post that the contents were a guess - you made a statement that "No new rides will come in 2002." For your own sake, I hope that you can present some kind of evidence to support it.

Anyways, someone already said that according to CP PR, there will be no announcement until October.

DIPPIN DOTS!!!111 THEY ROXOR YUR WORLD!!1!

I haven't heard anyone say "they want to make it a suprise"  Actually, they can announce it as  late as January...build it in a couple months and advertise for it without loosing money.  In 2002,  Ride Of Steel At sfne wasnt announced till january and construction began then.  It was open for opening day and they had record attendence for the year.   This thing about a suprise....  If CP cant get a coaster next year because they havn't announced it in sept.  then its gonna be a really bad year for Coasters.  Seeing as the only new ones will be 2 wild mice and a setpoint water coaster.(in theUS)

I think that someone just doesn't want to get his hopes up.  LOL!  I do agree with just a plain old looping corkscrew rollercoaster because the corkscrew just isnt cutting it these days.  As for a multi-looping wooden coaster is concerned, i think they should work on just a regular wooden coaster for now, see if they can actually get one in there that can have a millennium force kind of wait in the queue.  I love Mean Streak dont get me wrong, its just kind of sad that a great coaster dont get all the respect that it once used to.  I'll shut my mouth before i get myself in trouble.  Great Park, Great Rides, Great People!

Small coasters can be assembled in only a few months. Maybe a small woodie or a small mad mouse type ride, say in the neighborhood of magnum, would not take long to build at all. I think next yrs ride will be big, but not necassarily in the way of size. Something different possibly. But that is,  my opinion.

...A TA2K can be constructed in a few months as well. I believe that Hypersonic wasn't announced until October, and it was done being built by March-April.
