No hands?

I've touched the ceiling on DT right at the "losing control" drop. Caught me a bit by surprise. Wouldn't surprise me if it would be possible to touch the supports on WildCat by the helices, but I'm not going to test it.

And yes, there was a part of millennium on the overbank where if you reached out right (at about what, 55-60 mph) you could touch part of the supports. Stupid, but possible.

It's true, there used to be a support on MF's first overbank where, if you were trying, and you had long arms, you could reach out and smack the support with your hand. The support was modified (a year or two after opening season? someone help me out on this one) to prevent this from happening any more. There were a few reports of people on this site that this happened to. Picture proof: http://www.gallery.pointpixels.com/details.php?image_id=6764

Coasters aren't perfect machines in which nothing can go wrong. You should probably learn that.

Maybe thats why they tell you to keep your " arms down and hands inside the car at all times" lol

but I've heard stories of when people's arms have gotten hit hard from the supports.

Lies. They test for this stuff (look at the MF pictures...the strange wooden contraption being tested in a car)

Hands up is the way to go!

Especially on TTD...nothing like it!

I was joking.

I don't think you can hit your hands on any of the supports, they're too far from the ride. If you could, it would be a dangerous thing to put up your arms.

Its kind of hard to tell if you are joking over a computer..unless its obvious like.. " once i got my hand chopped off becuase it hit a support on the Woodstock Express" but when you make posts like you have been its kind of hard to tell. But thats just my opinion about it.

I typically do not hold on on most coasters, the exception being wood coasters, I use that handle to keep my back off of the back rest and prevent any back injury those rides (especially Mean Streak) can give me. I usually though just keep my hands at my side, the exceptions being:

Raptor: On the zero g roll I stick my hands and legs straight out, it enhances the air time tremendously.

Magnum: This ride was just made to have your hands up on, although I will bend my elbows back when going into tunnels (Im tall.)

MF: See Magnum

TTD: at the apex of the drop I do, down to the breaks, pure fun. I dont do it on the launch just because I pulled a muscle once doing that then.

People on here need to use common sense, then.

If you like your ears you'll want to hold on when riding Maverick.

I defintily agree with Gomez here on this one. It's most confortable to hold the retraints up near your head.

Whenever I do that it just tightens the harness to extremely uncomfortable levels.

I think that when you ride no-handed, you get more of a negative g feeling.

I typically go hands up, but on Maverick it's not that comfortable for me to put them up, and on the 2nd half of Magnum my thighs get obliterated if I don't hold on. Millennium is hands up the whole way though. On Gemini I tend to put them down on the turnarounds, the head chopper hill, and the helix. On Mean Streak I just hold on to my life and try not to go towards the light.

If you think you may be too big and you might hit something, do what you feel is safe, and I've been hit with bugs and rocks before.

My friend, who is 6'6", has hit his hand on gemini twice. It was the support right above you going over a bunny hill about midway through the ride. He was freaked out because he didn't think it was possible to do so but he found out the hard way. His hand was sore but nothing serious was wrong with it.

Arms down, head back, and hold on.....

Im 6'2" and had no problems except for Mean Streak. I just got a big ole splinter though.

See yeah I'm 6'5" and I don't mess around with that head chopper on Gemini. Too close for comfort for me.
