No free ticket offer for PLATINUM passes?

According to the website, you get a free ticket valid the day of your visit only if you are buying a cedar point only pass, and not a platinum pass? Is this the case? When they have done this in the past, I have always purchased my Platinum pass for the following year, and gave one of my friends the daily ticket. Why would they change it to "Cedar point only" passes? Does anyone actually buy them?

Because they can either A) get admission for your friend or B) have one less person in line that day. Either way, CP wins.

I'll be buying one for my nephew tonight. I only take him to the park a few times a year and don't take him traveling with me. So, there's not much reason to get him a PP.

That is absolutely rediculas. why would they not want to reward a customer for spending more money with them? Can you buy the regular pass than upgrade it later?

It is absolutely ridiculous for a customer think they are entitled to a "reward" for buying a company's product?

That is how business works. you buy things on perceived value. Thus, that is why they run specials early. Little things like this make it easier when you have to buy for a family of 5. A "reward" could be the difference of a family either buying or not buyint the product.

Exactly. And if you don't like the value, shop elsewhere (rather than whining about how said value doesn't meet your expectations).

Brandon

Why would they offer it for a regular season pass rather than a platinum pass?

djDaemon's avatar

Because they can?

Brandon

Is that a question or a statement?

Maybe they make more money on regular pass customers - for example, parking isn't included with the regular pass, which may be part of the reason.

It doesn't really matter why they do it. They apparently have their reasons, and the regular pass is either a good value from your perspective, or it isn't.

Never mind. It dosen't matter. I'm not going into it with you. I forgot that you are an intelectual giant and you have nothing else to do but post negativly to posters you don't like. so I am done and you can go pretend that you are the supreme overloard Sheldon Cooper.

I'm not surprised that's the best you can come up with. Most of the humor on that show is way above your head.

Actually, I just got an Email - and the free ticket is only for NEW Cedar Point season passes. You can't even get a free ticket for Renewing a current CP season pass. I know people give tickets to friends, but hello, they get an extra person in the park, spending money, buying food and souveneers who they may not be getting otherwise. Three of us have season passes we were gonna renew, and take 3 friends with us. Although they wouldn't have to pay admission, they would have spent money in the park. Now, they are not going. This isn't a win-win for CP as someone stated earlier, it's a loss-loss for everyone.

While I know you can't expect something for nothing, CP has jacked the food and drink prices so high, that the least CP could do is allow the free friend promo for Platinum renewals.

JuggaLotus's avatar

Well, if you don't like it, then don't renew your pass.

Continuing to renew your pass and give money to the park only tells them that what they are doing works.
