Next CP Coaster

I think it would be a cool idea when Cedar Point builds the next coaster they throw an online ballot for the maker and type i.e. stand-up, sitdown,etc.. To me the type isnt really important, but I honestly think CP has enough Sit down coaster and not enough stand up, inverted and suspended coasters. Heck why not go for a flying coaster. It would have to be better than (x-flight a.k.a Thunderhawk) though. The ride looks cool but its a let down when you ride it. So what do you all think?

I think we should enjoy Maverick.

^ And this is still open after 4 minutes.

Beer and golf Thursday thru Monday, Cedar Point & beer, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Can you see One-Eyed-Willie from the top of Magnum?

Three days old and it's time to think about the next one!

I think the next ride needs to be a FAMILY ride...which Maverick is not. Cedar Fair has it's hands on some interesting properties that might convert nicely to a dark ride (Nickelodeon, Snoopy, etc). I'd sure like to see them give it a try.

I argree Chief Wahoo. Since they removed their only flume, build a new one. Only this time make it a flume and dark ride combination.

I'd like to see a spinning coaster with trains like the new one at Knotts.

My thing is, if you as*'s don't like the topic then why do you reply. It dont hurt to wonder. And besides CP could always shock us and ad one next year to. So what If Maverick has been open for 4 days, it dont hurt to look toward the future. Unless there are alot of types out there regreting what they have done int their past, and see no point lookin toward the future. Sucks to be those. Or is there alot of those certain types of people that are misrale so they like to make everyone the same way

Apparently school is already out in some parts of the country. A flume dark ride would be cool...maybe on Millennium Island.

I would like them to add a B+M Floorless, just so I don't have to worry every off season if Dominator will be dotting the skyline of CP instead of GL.

I think a flying coaster would be cool, but what is wrong with X-flight/Firehawk? I always felt it was one of the best ride experiences I ever encountered on a Roller Coaster.

I was actually thinking about this, and you're right -- it doesn't hurt to look into the future.

I really want to see a nice flying coaster at CP, it would add some diversity that CP needs (not desperately needs, but it would sure as heck complement the other rides!)

Asking about CP's next coaster the first Monday after the new one just opened is a bit much. Think about it.

Also, guessing about CP's next coaster is just like guessing about if gas prices are going to continue to rise.

Answer= Yes

When= Keep checking

While I totally agree we all should enjoy Maverick, it is a fact that CP starts thinking/planning for their next big coaster as soon as the newest one opens. We also know they have been watching ET.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a "family" coaster or spinning mouse come to CP next, while I am sure they are planning their next "big" ride now.

My money says you wont see a spinning mouse at Cedar Point until the Wildcat is retired.

R.I.P. MrScott... You're greatly missed!!

No, but we could see a spinning Mack coaster, ala Sierra Sidewinder. First Xcelerator, then TTD. :)

I vote for spinning Mack and Intamin plug-n-play woodie at the same time. w00t!! :)

~I agree, enjoy Maverick now. Worry about whats next this winter, b/c like Tom said they r most likely already planning their next big thing now b/c they plan them 5 years in advance. Just like they were planning TTD b/4 Millennium Force even opened. (I saw this in an interview video on cedarpoint.com in on the Maverick page, i believe that's where I saw it n e way :-)~

I agree with most everybody else here, let's just enjoy Maverick. I haven't even ridden that one yet, I'm not really concerned about future coatsers. Do I think about it? Of course, but I consider myself lucky that "my" park gets as many new rides as it does. Most parks go years without anything new and Cedar Point has added 6 new attractions in the last 7 years. I find that pretty impressive.

While I would like to see another thrilling coaster, I really wouldn't care for a flying coaster. I'd rather have a floorless. But first, I want another "intermediate ride". I have a niece and nephew who are just getting old enough to want to go to the Point. The thing is, apart from Mine Ride, DT and Iron Dragon, there really aren't alot of good family rides that we can all enjoy together. I think the next few years should focus on appealing to everybody. The 6-12 year old kids are too old for Camp Snoopy and Kiddie Kingdom but aren't ready to or aren't big enough to conquer the big coasters.

~I totally agree. I remember that age. I was still too sacred for MF, Gemini, Magnum, Mean Streak, Raptor, and Mantis, so I would make my parents ride Iron Dragon, Wildcat, Mine Ride and Disaster Transport ALL DAY! My nephew is old enough for Kiddieland now, but when he gets older I would like for him to have more ride chooses. Rides like those I still enjoy riding, and the younger riders can still love too. If the built a new one like those, chances r I would still ride it, even if it's not like Millenium Force!

I also do not care for a flying coaster, I would like another suspender coaster though :-)~ *** Edited 5/29/2007 10:52:43 PM UTC by stevieluv***

I would like to see Cedar Point put in a flying coaster. Ohio really does need at least ONE more flyer besides Firehawk. Just make sure it's NOT built by Intamin :)

Since Walt hasn't seen fit to close this thread yet, I'll toss in my two cents.

What I'd like to see happen -- and this could happen down around the area of Disaster Transport/Demon Drop/picnic grove that everybody keeps talking about -- is a group of two or three rides all built at the same time, all designed to interlock with each other so the same basic footprint accomodates multiple attractions.

Imagine a small GCII woodie, intertwined with an updated flume ride incorporating all sorts of cool new bells and whistles, and something like a launched 'family' steel coaster. It would be quite a wicked tangle of track to behold, and it would offer a tremendous set of aesthetic opportunities. The same theming could be used to integrate all the rides. I'm guessing the whole set might be constructed for about what it took to build Maverick.

Just an idea.

I can't bveleive how many times I've said this. As much as I know it's extremely unlikely, I'd love to see a Hus Giant Top Spin intertwined with either a B&M flyer or anIntamin/GG/CGI Woodie. Mmmm... Intamin P&P Airtime...
