Did anyone else notice the picture with this article? The guy putting in new seats on the yellow MF train. Are they all getting new seats? They look to me just like the old seats, but maybe they are a slightly different design. Might the seat belts actually change, or at least be consistent amongst all the trains?

There is no dark side of the moon really. Matter of fact it's all dark.

I see that picture as an advertisement for Folger's Coffee. The seats do look the same. They look worn on the back of the seats

The seats get taken out each off season as part of the regular maintenance. They need to be put back in before the ride can open.

Goodbye MrScott

John

That makes sense. I just didn't realize they actually took the seats completely off.

They take everything apart. Every last nut and bolt is removed and checked.

No, They are actually replacing some of the seats with the same model. You can notice this because the seats have no wear marks mostly where ther bar crosses the seat and on the bottom. In time they wear out. Sometimes they tear too. These current seats were new for the 2001 season. An observant person will notice that the test seat isn't the same design as in the train. If you find some good pictures of Millennium Force in 2000 you will see that the seats on the train were of the same design as of the test seat. I think the seats started to tear early 2004 and they were quickly replaced. Since then they replace the worst seats before the season.

The lapbars have been replaced too. The original lapbars started to become green in it's pits in 2002. They found out that it wasn't cleanable. In 2003 it got worse and at some point one of the lapbars got torn. What they did was switch out the lapbar from the test seat to the train. The catch was that the lapbar padding on the test seat was dark grey. For 2004 the trains got all new lapbar padding. Some of lapbars themselves over time had tilted a little bit. This tore most of the lapbars pretty badly. There was no easy way to tear apart the train and shim the lapbars during the season. For 2005 they shimmed the lapbars and replaced the lapbar padding yet again.
