An intelligent alternative solution. Promote visitation to the area, rather than trying to force visitation. I like it.

What things are there to do downtown after the park closes?
it would be nice on the nights we stay to do something afterword..
I am a little surprised that Cedar Point's Sign Department (or graphic department can't remember what it is called) are not making their signs. Since CP is paying for their signs I figured they would try and offset the cost some and make them themselves.

So, since they announced the prices of the signs, does that mean it would be possible to say, order one from the City?

Just Google "custom street signs." :)
I agree on the fact the old brown signs didn't really catch your eye.

At this point in the season, they probably don’t have time to take care of it themselves. I am glad though that the area it getting new signs. It will make it a little less bland.
It would be nice if Sandusky's downtown could become a destination for Cedar Point goers - just imagine staying at a local hotel/bed-and-breakfast downtown, walking the streets to a number of bars, restaurants, and shops. Or even taking a late night ferry around the bay. It really could turn Sandusky into something that sets it apart from Disney or Kings Island (suburban traffic hell).
Maybe some day :-)
It would be even better for locals. Downtown is good sized and is nice, now if only there were something to do there.
Downtown Sandusky is a very nice place, but there are only a few things to do right now. The Carousel Museum is located downtown. There are a couple of family style restaurants and a bakery or two. Also, you'll find Daly's Tavern and Cabana Joe's (or Jack's, can't remember). And, the Jet Express provides transportation to Put-In-Bay and Kelley's Island.
The water front has a lot of potential. Hopefully they will find a way to put in more entertainment, especially some more night life.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
There is a Downtown Development office that is planning stuff for the area right now. I don’t really know what that stuff is, because anything I have ever read from them tells me nothing. But lets just say it will be something good. Pete’s right about it being a nice downtown, very clean. But there just needs to be something to do. Other then what Pete mentioned for things to do, there isn’t much else. A few good antique shops which you can find good Cedar Point stuff in.
The two bars down there get old after a few visits. Plus the word on the street around here is that Cabana Jack’s is closing. Its to bad the State Theater closed. It was a nice place to see a show. I just wish the people around here would have stepped up and kept it open. Most new business is targeting Perkins Township. And with good reason, Cedar Point traffic. Like Pete said, there is a lot of potential downtown, I hope it changes for the better, but I don’t see it happening. The amount of retail and office space that is for lease/sale now, is still the same amount that was up for lease/sale two years ago. There is actually more now.
If any of you get a chance to drive downtown this summer, do it. Its a nice place with great views of Cedar Point.
It's a shame our country continues to sprawl the way it does. The midwest offers some of the more interesting downtowns in the country...and it could all be accessible by foot! Oh well, I guess families would rather put their kid in a car seat, drive in traffic forever, find a place to park (in a barren blacktop lot), and then go someplace that lacks true local identity, character, and charm.
Sometimes I wonder if the only way to bring people back into downtowns would be to build a big highway right through it... :-/
