Many moons ago the Point was looking pretty seriously at buying that property. Now I'm not so sure they could get their hands on it. It would be nice if that hole corridor eventually ended up under the Cedar Fair flag.

I'm just glad I come to the point from the Rye Beach Road exit and can avoid all that is Cleveland Road and Rt 250. I even take the old causeway to the park. Its peaceful and there's NEVER traffic. :)

The Rye Beach Road exit used to back up too. That was back in the day though.

Thankfully they corrected that problem with the extension of the exit lane and widening at the Rye Beach Rd./Cleveland Rd. intersection. Chief Wahoo is right, though. It was common for traffic to back up from Rye Beach Rd. onto the highway on Saturday mornings. I grew up a few streets over from that intersection and I have many horror stories.

Hey Walt, what exactly is the skinny on driving down the peninsula? It says 'Private Road' and CP certainly doesn't advertise that you can get to the park that way. All that aside, I've been driving it the last few years and have found it a quiet, charming, much faster route to the Point.

Well I'm pretty sure Walt uses the Chaussee himself. It's a nice way to get to the Point.

It's my favorite part of the trip, other then actually driving into the parking lot. :) The beautiful, sometimes quirky houses, the incredible views... Call me crazy, but I love a good walrus mailbox.

That's not a private drive. The one next to the parking lot is, but the causeway part isn't private. Ensign, aren't there like 10 walrus mailboxes now? :)

Does anyone have a picture of the main entrance sign when it used to be at the old causeway? I can remember it from my childhood, but that's about it. Most likely, I'm remembering it all wrong too. LOL!!

I find it interesting that there are 1/2 million dollar houses next to houses that would go in my area for about 25k.

They don't advertise it as a route to Cedar Point (except on the busiest of days) because it's simply not setup to handle that kind of traffic. Cedar Point handles road maintenance, patrols, etc. The entire Chausee is a private road, but you are permitted to use it. The small access road that runs along the parking lot is off limites.

I thought those mailboxes were Manatees. :(

Either way, they're vomit-inducingly cute.

^^ Geez, I guess all the money they spent on the mailbox holder they couldn't afford a new mailbox.

Once we again, we should bow down to exit. :) You are correct sir. They indeed ARE manatees.

Cedar Point: Most Manatee Mailboxes on the Planet!

Okay, so that was bad...

I certainly hope the updates to the hotel are extensive. It's been quite some time since I stayed there, but the one time I did I swore I'd never do so again.

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

I'd want to think outside the box and have a boat propeller as a mailbox holder if I lived on the causeway.

Stupid Manatees.

All the other mailbox holders would live in constant fear of your mailbox holder!

Poor Manatees.

Nic

They can't be Manatees. Manatees aren't indigenous to Lake Erie.
