Is this true or just cover up?????????
Dan Watson
They didn't say no, nor did they say yes. They just said what we knew and didn't want any more questions about the subject.
I think they're doing it in good old Cedar Point fashion by keeping quiet and not leaking a thing till later in the season. It makes sense. If somebody reads that CP may be getting a big new coaster in 2007, what's the point to travel far to come in 2006.
Not everybody goes to CP every year like it's their religion. :) *** Edited 2/3/2006 10:47:23 PM UTC by Gomez***

Maverick..Tom Cruises Call name in TOP GUN...He was a pilot meaning he flew...
Thats it. We are DEFINITLY getting flyers. ;)
"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"
Top Gun is also trademarked by Paramount, I think they'd have something to say about it if it was a Top Gun spinoff.
And now that the blog has posted this, it really makes me wonder. Cedar Point is typically so tight-lipped about ANYTHING new until it's announced, that them acknowledging the name seems like maybe it isn't a Cedar Point ride after all...=/
It was getting to the point where they couldn't ignore it. They acknowledged the buzz without acknowledging whether the buzz is correct, a good move for a blog targeted toward the "more than casual" fan. I'm sure everyone has their guesses. But until that press release comes down, we're just all having fun. :)

There was also a western t.v. series called maverick,so I doubt the name has anything to do with a flyer.
It's getting old... the whole "Maverick = Flyer" idea. Everyone keeps making the connection 'fit' by referencing Top Gun. That's like making a puzzle piece 'fit' by slamming it into place with your fist.
If the name had anything to do with Top Gun whatsoever (Which, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it DOESN'T... cuz, uh.. we're not a Paramount Park)... then how does that make it fit into a western/frontier area?
'Maverick' doesn't sound like it fits as a flyer in any other context... at least to my ears it doesn't. Unless someone can convince me otherwise, I think your flyer dream has come to an end.

I bet you're finding some our guesses to be comedic.:)

Alot of people that raise cattle have heard this term used.If a cow ,calve or a bull or a steer is high strung, wild natured does not want to hang with the rest of the herd it sometimes reffered to as a maverick. This term was used more in the west and southwest, when they still herded cattle across the open range.
It was also used, oh, about 120 years before the "Maverick" call sign even became a thought to a writer.
Even the tv show was 25 years before that.
I don't think Maverick means flyer. We could get a flyer (please no) but it wouldn't have any tie in whatsoever to a jet or movie or Tom "Pansy" Cruise.
Goodbye MrScott
John
Well, Tom Cruise is supposed to be in town this weekend (Windsor for Superbowl), I'll track him down and discuss this whole situation with him. ;)
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
Tell him I said hello. It's been awhile since me and Tommy hung out.

It'd be pretty hilarious if "Maverick" was just a new show or walk-through attraction at Valleyfair! or something.
1,146 rides on Raptor. Three rides in 2009.
And a cow or poker player makes you think of what kind of rollercoaster? It just does not fit.

I don't think you picked up the word "colt" in the definition. That would be a horse in case you don't know. The name definately fits the area.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
