...but seriously...
Did some park actually call one of their inversions a "flat spin"? Did they think it sounded a lot cooler than corkscrew or zero-g roll?
Lol, a laucnhed spinning mouse. Holy wow that's be crazy.
Also, if this is called Maverick, I'm going to have even more fun riding this. While going through the s-curves I'll be all "I can't shake him! This MIG's all over me!" and "I'm gonna hit the brakes and he'll fly right by". I'll then proceed to do a flyby on the tower... i mean station and get busted... but not before pulling an immelmen or two. The tie-ins are endless... especially if a goose happens to fly in front of the launch.

Flat spin is what Cedar Point called the last two inversions on Raptor when it was announced.

Well, if there is a flyby corkscrew (where you're inverted over another section of track) you'll have make sure to flip off the other train.
Ahhh, but it does look like a cobra's hood (when viewed head on).
Now, if they had called it a Cobra Twinkie, then we might have an issue.

Goodbye MrScott
John
What is with the M names anyway. Mine Ride (ha),Magnum, Mantis, Mean Streak, Millennium Force, Maxair, Maverick.
Did I miss any?
They should name this coaster Mustang, oh wait....
Platinum has it's perks. So does living exactly 97.5 miles from King's Island and Cedar Point
That is a lot of M's
Anybody else remember Millennium Mania? Materhorn, Midway Carosel, Monster, Motorcylces, Mustangs - I think thats it.
Mark
Edit: ^^ beat me to it!
Dont forget Midway Carousel, Motorcycles, Mustangs, Matterhorn and Monster....
Really though, only 17.39% of Cedar Points rides begin with M ;)

And Ocean Motion gets partial credit.

So they let the head ACE in on the secret. That's nice for a national prospective, but how about the internet?
I know you wouldn't be able to say anything about what it is, but were Walt or Jeff asked the same question by CP? Second question, do you think Mrs Sanderson just opened herself up to a 1000 phone calls, emails, and stalkers by admitting she knows? Third question, does she really know? Or is she just another yahoo that says she knows, kind of like alot of people here!
2004,2005 Food Services
2006 One Long visit
I know what it is...
It's 525' tall, has 42 inverions, 22 launches, it goes under ground, out of the water, 12,897' long, it goes through the park, spins around the Space Needle twice, into Disaster Transport where it becomes a tobogan, comes out, goes through Hotel Breakers, and back to the project site.
Oh yea, and their tearing down Mean Streak AND CK Mine Ride.

I think it's going to be the trains that are unique, not the actual track.
"THE Top Thrill Dragster...THE Millennium Force...THE Wicked Twister...THE Magnum! How do you like those apples?!?!?"
Exactly what I was thinking. I mean, leave it to an ACEer to think they're above everyone else. Reminds me when I was waiting in line for Magnum to open for ERT at CM this year. Some guy walks up to the entrance host, starts making small talk, then whips out his ACE card and says something to the effect "I didn't make it here in time for the buttons, but as you can see I'm a member of a real coaster club, so that means I can ride".
Sure, some people know what the ride is. But if asked about it in an interview, I'm sure most would say that they don't know anything about the ride but they think it will be a great addition yada yada yada.
She tried making herself look more important by what she said about knowing.

As this is a "speculation" thread, I speculate that just before the announcement date we see something either arrive in the staging area, or that actually goes up that will gives us all a pretty good idea of what this project is going to be. The announcement will likely tell us a little more about the project. Perhaps deatils such as the trains being used. again jUST SPECULATION, but I can't wait to find out more, whatever it is!
LittleLeslie hit right on it I think. Its gonna be the trains that are unique, not the track itself. I guess we can just all speculate and ponder. Its fun seeing everyones ideas.
Ride-on
I have no doubt that Mrs Sanderson knows what the ride is. I know she has been a friend of many of the parks management for many years before she became ACE president.
And I think everyone really needs to stop hoping for some special train. It will be standard Intamin looping coaster trains.

How about the record for most overbanked turns?

Hey, this could be the first launched and inversioned spinning mouse coaster.
I had that exact thought yesterday while I was watching the construction. It would be just like CP to take an already proven phenomenon and rev it up to the next level. That would be a sweet, sweet ride.
Regardless, I think the train design is the crux here. Whatever the cars look like, they're going to have to have some sort of independent suspension to ease the gees on those tight transitions. Otherwise they'll have to be negotiated at a crawl.
I'm also still holding out for an above-ground tunnel or two, perhaps themed with boulders.

I swear, if there's a record for any little thing that a coaster can do, you people will find it!
Most footers, most rail ties, most helices, most bolts, longest queue, shortest launch...
Coasters will soon rival baseball for most records categories:
Player X is the all time leading hitter (with the bases loaded during the bottom of the third inning with a full count and one out with a left handed pitcher on the mound on a day hotter than 80 degrees, but cooler than 100, in the month of August) this year
