Suddenly things change when CF is talking about moving their headquarters away, doesn't it? They should 'pursuade' them by removing the parking tax.
What tax? http://www.pointbuzz.com/news.htm?id=32
It's interesting to follow this topic since we all listened to the same conference call. I never thought we'd continue to see stories on it.
For some reason I thought they were still charging a tax for parking. Or did they find some other clever way to get that money from CP?
Wow a reporter made up a story about something that wasn't even mentioned in the conference call, and now the city commissioners are writing letters to Cedar Fair to convince them to stay.
You're right Walt, this is interesting to follow, not to mention a good show of the power of the press.

No. CP just doesn't have to feed a chunk of the money collected to the city. That doesn't mean they are going to lower anything.

But they never said that they were considering a move! I don't understand how that context was ever even implied. They just said they have a lease on office space that they're not sure they will renew. They haven't ever said they'd consider moving there.

Regardless, it can only be good for CF. A bargaining chip is helpful, even if you're bluffing.

Somehow I have a feeling that this letter from the city is getting passed around to all the execs so they can have a good laugh at it.

So witht he tax gone, parking should be cheaper?
The price for parking was never raised because of the tax. So, with the tax gone, there's nothing to lower.

For as much as the park has done for the city, they really should...

Funny, I was sure both the daily rate and the pass rate went up. I seem to recall parking went up by a buck this year...and I KNOW the parking pass price went up because I purchased one last fall with my Season Passes.
Or are you saying they didn't raise it BECAUSE of the tax?

I thought that was what I said. :)
Parking went to $9 in 2004, several months after the tax went away. It had been $8 since 2002.
