NEWBIE not CP lover...taking the kids. Question

I am not sure how this question will be received in a Forum of Cedar Point lovers, but here goes....please be gentle.

I am taking 4 teens to the Travel Channel shoot tomorrow morning. I am not thrilled with a day at Cedar Point since I don't really enjoy rides, crowds, lines, expensive shopping, etc. I know, I know, I am a rarity.

But here's my question: I am planning on leaving the kids and allowing them to do their own thing, after I sign off on their "permission" for the media shoot. Can anyone give me any suggestions for staying in the area and going someplace comfortable to relax, use the internet, etc? We are driving in from Toledo....

Thanks~

To, Noob,

There are 2 hotels at Cedar Point, Hotel Breakers and Sandcastle Suites.
Sandcastle Suites has better quality rooms(all suites) but Hotel Breakers is cheaper.(they are both pretty pricey, though.)

There is a nice peaceful boardwalk on the beach where you can read, enjoy the lake front, and just relax.

Exit the park at the gate by Windseeker, that will put you on the boardwalk. You can hang out at Hotel Breakers. They have WiFi in the rotunda, which has some comfortable table seating. Or, hang out at the pool side patio just outside of the Rotunda. There is a TGIF restaurant just a little further down the boardwalk where you can have a beer or some food. If you get board, continue down the boardwalk and stay to the right at the Soak City split. That path goes all the way around to Lighthouse Point where they have a nice pier to walk out on and watch all the boating activity on the lake.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Donut time near the front of the park has wifi and air conditioning and shouldnt be too busy later in the day. Also you might enjoy the shows. Some of them are pretty good, most are indoors (air conditioning) and they dont involve long que lines.

Well, it looks like it was a non-issue. They allowed for 300 people to enter the park for free in exchange for being used as warm bodies for the filming of the Travel Channel segment. Only about 100-150 actually showed up and were allowed to enter the park at about 7:30. There was no charge for parking, and we parked right by the entrance gate. I spoke with an employee in magt. about at what point I would be asked to sign off for the minors to appear in the shoot. I was told that I really didn't even need to do that at any point since most of the shots were going to be crowd shots anyway. Fine by me. I left the teens by 7:45 AM and have been enjoying myself frequenting Kohl's, Panera, Goodwill, etc....reading, eating, getting work done and generally just enjoying getting some time to do things for myself. I was told I could enter the parking lot at no charge when the kids are ready to go home. I so appreciate your suggestions. I do think I am going to go check out The Breakers lobby...it is very chilly in Panera :) (First world problems)Thx again~
