New Video on CP website

Wow. I loved that video. Not only an amazing song (for me it's the fact that it's a DDR song) but their use of timing was amazing. I think that "Heaven" was the perfect song for that since there aren't many greater feelings than when flying down a track faster than your car will do.
The video on the cedar point web site is good. It shows most everything in the park and has some good POV clips. I really liked it a lot.

Goodbye 2005 season!!!!

I've always liked that song, and I think the video was very well done. I could be mistaken, but I think the only coasters not shown in the video were the kiddie coasters and the Disastor transport, but how much video of the number 12 can you have :) lol

Sorry for bringing up such an old topic but are there any new CedarPoint videos out there like the Heaven one?

Whenever I hear "Heaven" on the radio, I crank it up and CP rollerer coasters roar through my head!

That video from xtremecoaster.com is pretty bad in my personal opinion. The intro screams of the "Perfect Day" intro, most of the shots are pretty shakey and the music is annoying and it's even worse when you have to stare at the URL for the whole video.

Not to mention one of those MF shots was very obviously shot from behind a building on the trail, an area the general public is not allowed to be. *** Edited 2/25/2005 10:11:39 AM UTC by Red Garter Rob***

Yeah but you have to admit that some of the footage is cool. I do agree about the music though. I could be changed.

That video has some of the most orginal TTD footage I've seen. Many videos only show the ride going up and down the tower for 2 minutes. The URL is like watching a wide screen movie on a full screen. You don't notice it after you start watching it. Music could be better, but so what. And come on, I understand the fight about POV videos at CP, but what does going behind a building to get a shot really mean. It's not putting anyone in danger, and the most CP would do would kindly ask them to not go back there. What's the big deal?

Try the Top Thrill Dragster video if you have not already, it's better than the Cedar Point........or at least it's cooler.

The end of this month, my Brother and myself are going to "shoot the Point" in our attempt to make a CP Video. I doubt I'll be able to post it anywhere online, as it will be in DVD format. Just TOO big.

Mr Scott,

Not every day a six month old post gets quoted, but i was curious, did you ever complete your video project?

I have often considered making my own compilation, but after watching the Heaven video again, and again, and again, I realized that it pretty much sums up exactly how I feel about CP.

If you ever do get your video done, I have about 1.5 gigs of available webspace (for at least a month or two), and I'd be happy to help you out.

One more thing, just to re-ask a question I asked earlier, does anyone know who made the "Heaven" video?

I just wat to give credit where credit is due.

Jay

Jay,

Wow, you dug deep for that quote! To answer you're question, yes, we did complete it.

We got stopped by Point Security a couple of times while filming (they thought we were from a TV station) and were followed by them through out the day. It made them nervous to see a couple of guys with cams, bags, tri and mono pods and big lenses photographing their "buildings and structures" without family members in the shots. LOL! While taking a break (ie having a beer) outside of the Red Garter, I noticed an emergency vehicle near MF's entrance. I told my brother that if he even pointed a camera in that direction that we would get booted from the park. They were that paranoid.

The video (or should I say "videos") turned out great! I wish that I could share them, but they really are much too big. My bro is a tech/photog buff and wanted to make the best that he could. The result are a couple of videos, in DVD format, that are crystal clear on a big screen TV. Are they as good as the Heaven video? That's subjective. They are comparable, IMO. It depends on your taste in music.

We used "Bohemin Rhapsody" by Queen for the first vid and after a family member commented that we should have used something more upbeat, we made a second one with "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns & Roses. A lot of the footage is the same in both (of course), but each has it's own "personality" and unique shots.

If you ever do make your own video, I have no doubt that you will enjoy the final outcome. It is a lot of work getting to that point, though. Be prepared to spend a couple (minimum) of days in the park riding nothing. We spent 2 days filming and shooting stills. We walked are butts off. From the main entrance to Sandcastle and back again--more than once. We got caught in a severe storm (yes, shots from it made it into both vids). Once you are done at the park, the real work begins with editing, converting, and timing your shots to the music.

Thanks for bringing back some fine memories during this long, cold & snowy, off season. You'll have to excuse me now. I have a couple of videos that I really now have the urge to go watch...
