This was on that web site that everyone "loves"
In fact, it looked like they were getting ready to ship out the Gerstlauer trains from The Villain, so I’ve got to wonder if they’re ready to scrap both Villain and Raging Wolf Bobs, then I believe that gives Cedar Fair three complete Gerstlauer wooden coaster trains to either sell or put to use elsewhere in the chain. Anyone know where they may be planning on sending the G-trains? Call me sadistic, but I’m curious how well they might run on Mean Streak.
What do you think?
I really don't like the look of those trains. I think they're really ugly. BUT if those trains would make the ride less bumpy I would love to have them.
The trains aren't the issue. The seats, maybe, but the trains are fine. It's more of that giant mass of track and wood that isn't designed all that well.

SOB=worst investment ever. Have fun with that small ridership for your 2nd biggest ride, KI.

I think those trains are terribly uncomfortable, being 6'5" my knees banged into the grill (or whatever you wanna call it) on Villain. Also being squeezed in like that, my back nearly snapped every time we went over a hill or made a turn! It was a very painful experience.

I wouldn't call adding those trains to Mean Streak an improvement. ;)
My thought exactly.

The only thing worse than SOB itself, is the way the new trains look. B&M and Intamin have a great history of making some very cool looking trains, even PTC trains look okay.
If a wooden coaster is designed properly, PTC trains run just fine. See: The Voyage, Shivering Timbers, etc. Of course, they could always try out Millennium Flyers.

I'd be more worried about the G-trains staying on course, considering their track record, than if they're more comfortable.
Now Millennium Flyers I would like to see on a coaster at Cedar Point.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
I do believe the problem is in the structure, and not the trains. Dinn had a horrific track record...no pun intended. His coasters are great for the first few years and then they start to rip themselves apart. Mean Streak is not the only one.
Come on people. Mean Streak has to go.
Promoter of fog.
I know it's a pipe dream, but I think Mean Streak would be one of my favorite coasters if it could be Intaminized with pre-fab track. I love how lots of the course is inside the structure. So, if it were smoother and was allowed to return to its former speed, I'd totally dig it. But alas, that's where the dream ends. :)
The one night I rode it where there were only two other people in my train, the trims were completely off, as well as the MCBR, and it turned into a great coaster. If only it could run like that always...
Could the weight be what is making it run rougher? Perhaps if they got lighter trains it would help.
Thrills Around the Corner!
^When were you there when they did that? Just before closing time? You must of had fun, as I have never been on it when the trims were off. Might as well just not have a lift hill if you are going to slow it down so much.
No new trains, just retracking and removal of the first drop trims. Cedar Point owes it to meanie to fix it. Am I the only pointbuzzer who likes mean streak, who thinks it looks amazing even more so at night?
On another note: Why does everyone bash SOB? I thought it was far smoother than mean streak, and far most forces, it was a fun ride, better then mean streak. *** Edited 10/2/2007 2:31:08 AM UTC by GibsonSoft***
^I felt like my back was about to snap on SOB, even with the new trains. That's what every ride at Kings Island felt like.
