New Television Commercial

Last night during American Idol, they aired a commercial for Cedar Point. It was based on the idea from the web site video. Leave the virtual world and have some real world thrills.

My complaint however is that they show the kids on a coaster that isn't even AT cedar point. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but where at Cedar Point is there a coaster with green seats, and only a lap bar for restraint. Am I crazy or do they have a non-CP ride in the CP commercial?

I noticed that too. The commercial was on both FOX and ABC during the 9:00PM hour. There were at least 2 rides on the CedarPoint "Ride On" commercial that are not in the park. The other one is similar to Raptor but the color is completely different. Maybe one of the rides is the design for Project 2007.

I paused the commercial on the ride you mentioned and the background does not look like CedarPoint at all. You would think somebody from CedarPoint would have watched the commercial before it aired and said "Hey...shouldn't we use CedarPoint rides for a CedarPoint commercial?"

To answer your other question, you might be crazy, this just isn't evidence of it.

Green seats with only a lapbar? Wouldn't that be Frog Hopper?

I haven't seen the new commercial yet... but going on just what you said, I'd say Frog Hopper.

There is ghost rider, and silver bullet in the commercial. Kind of what six flags does with there commercials.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

That coaster did look familiar. Maybe it was Xcelerator at Knott's. It did have similar coloring. I think that Raptor was in the comercial. Looking at it again (we have DVR, best thing ever!), the train looked to be heading into the cobra roll. It just looked strange because the POV was from behind.

I don't know whats scarier, that you took the time to go find the commercial, or that you have American Idol tivo'd.

I doubt they were concerned as 99% of the general public that are seeing these commercials wouldn't even notice that a lap bar or restraint shown isn't from a CP ride. Not everyone is as obsessed as we are :) *** Edited 5/11/2006 4:16:14 PM UTC by DemonDroppin'***

The Amazement Park

I just saw a sky hawk commercial on cbs at the end of survivor.

I know that Cedar Point has used pictures off other parks in their brochures, and other Cedar Fair parks have used Cedar Point pictures in their own brochures. If they can do that, why not commercials, too?

I agree, though, it is kind of false advertising.

They featured Talon in the commercial. I don't know why they would do that. Isn't this supposed to be a new ad agency doing the ad campaign now?? If it is, I think its a poor decision when someone can probably try to claim false advertising if they see a coaster thats not at CP.

"If it looks good, you'll see it; if it sounds good, you'll hear it, if it's marketed right, you'll buy it; but... if it's real, you'll feel it."

It was on NBC last night when I was watching the office. I thought that it was a good but they could have used rides cedarpoint like milli. Its not like they dont have enough to show from cedarpoint.
