New Show Arena

If you have been to Kings Island or Carowinds, the one thing I noticed there is a huge indoor venue for both eating and shows. Kings Island has the Festhaus and Carowinds has Harmony Hall. Could this be going into the Mean Streaks footprint? We all know the Luminosity area is too small for that show. And the space is used only 1 hour each night, 30 minutes for the show, and 30 for the DJ. This would draw more people to the back of the park and then it might eliminate the rush to the parking lot after the last performance. Food and shows could be scheduled all day long and really increase traffic in the Frontier town area.

If they wanted to do this they would probably modify the Coliseum for the venu.

There's also a Peanuts show in the afternoon.

I think there could be enough room to fit a large venue like at KI and Carrowinds if they knocked down Last Chance Saloon, Chuck Wagon and the Ice Cream Shop in that stretch.

They would probably have to move the RR track a bit, but I bet they could build a nice structure that would fit in nicely in that part of the park. It could be used for Brew and BBQ and other events during the year.

I'd also like to see them remove the Round up food stand and place a family flat ride for those who aren't riding Maverick or whatever replaces Mean Streak.

If they take down ANY ride to put in a SHOW, than I'm going to be furious. And no, Wildcat doesn't count because that was closed for other reasons.

How different are these venues from the Lakeside Pavilion? Is there space near there to expand out the pavilion to create such a thing?

So get rid of all the food places in frontier town, check.

Could this be done on the island where Dinosaurs Alive currently sits? I'm pretty sure that's leaving soon anyhow.

No, not on the island. Lakeside Pavilion already has a large indoor dining facility attached to it. If they wouldn't adapt that existing facility, the front of the park where the picnic table/area is is the most likely place.

The new venue would have a stage, tables and food stations.

It is not at all difficult to find the island. DA seems to have done just fine there.

I think a great spot for a new show arena would be the area that currently houses Point Pavilion. The area seems big enough and now that Lakeside Pavilion has been built by the beach, I don't see Point Pavilion being utilized that much other than attracting seagulls.

Heck, I'd be happy just seeing some of the current show arenas being modernized. The AWE stadium, along with the Wicked Twister supports, got lost in last year's Wicked Twister/now Lakeside Midway updates. I've emailed the park about the 35+ years of seagull crap that is on the once glistening blue metal roof of the former Oceana stadium. Next time you're by Planet Snoopy, (especially by the Flying Ace Balloon Race) take a look over there and tell me that that arena (the All Wheels Extreme stadium) can't use some updating or even a new modern shiny white/or blue roof. Sheesh.

Probably not in the budget, but AWE pretty much needs at tear down- rebuild so it doesn't look like a former sea life stadium.

AWE is the most attended Live E show in the park. Could they use a more suitable venue, yes. Is there more important things for CF to spend capital improvement dollars on, yes.

Right. Not a priority, definitely. It does remind me of when a CVS closes and a dollar store moves into its old building. You can tell it was a CVS at one time because of the style of the building (it looks like most every other CVS) and there might even be a labelscar from the signage, but it is now a dollar store. The AWE being in the former aquatic stadium works, but it's out of place.

I have been to Harmony Hall and just loved everything about it. Great food and great atmosphere. Since then, I've wanted Cedar Point to have something similar. Just not sure where..
