New seat belts on Magnum!

Something I noticed yesterday...

At least in rows 3 and 4 of the red and blue trains, Magnum got some new seat belts.

I know what you're thinking, and no, it's not like that. These are new *since last week*. Someone finally noticed that the Magnum belts were getting really, really short...these are back to normal. Actually, no, it's not back to normal. It's back to the way it was in about 2009 and earlier. It's back to what *used to be* normal.

To put it into perspective...for many years, my habit when exiting has been to lay the belt over the back of the seat for the convenience of the next rider. For the last two years, the belts have been too short to do that. Yesterday, I was laying them on the seat back again. :)

Now if we can just get those lap bars on Mine Ride Train #2 fixed... (Train #2 is significantly tighter than trains #1 and #3)

This is great news. While I didn't have trouble fitting, there were several people last week at the ACE event who normally fit fine, however then they could only fit in select rows on certain trains.

I noticed on Friday that the black train had a much longer seat belt in row 3 than the row 3 belt in whatever train I was on earlier in the day. Glad these are getting fixed. On opening weekend a friend of mine who'd never had issues on Magnum before had to do the walk of shame after riding in a different train earlier that same day.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And now it gets weirder...

Yesterday I noticed that some (not all) of the seat belts on Magnum have been *reversed*...that is, the adjustable end is now attached to the outboard side and the fixed buckle end is attached to the inside.

It probably makes it easier for the attendants to tug on the tail end, but it also means the buckles can do damage to the finish on the outside of the train.

That's why God created spray paint.

Not to mention considering how not clean the trains were yesterday it seems as though that would be the least of their worries. I know last year the crew came in early to clean at least once a week. All three trains yesterday had bugs ALL OVER the front and side of them. It was pretty disgusting.

Friday night, a friend text me about the new belts. I saw them when we rode Sat & Sun. Glad the park is listening to the complaints.

Dave - now that you mentioned the belts being "reversed", you are right. I did not even think about it when riding. The other nice thing was the pull loops on them to make easier for ride-ops to tug on.

Isn't it amazing after riding a ride as much as you or I have, that we don't even notice a change like that? When I rode about a week ago now, I didn't notice the reversed belts, but I know they had to be now because something just didn't feel right. And that was just after I had ridden a few minutes prior with the "correct" belt routing.

It's little things like that we take for granted. :)

I noticed the "reverse" belts as well. Confused, as I think they were the old way on my visit just a few days earlier.
