New roof on the Rotunda of the Hotel Breakers

After going to www.virtualmidway.com and looking at the pictures from the park taken last month, I've noticed something different about the Hotel Breakers. The rotunda has a blue roof on it now. What does everyone else think about this? It just looks different, but I sort of like it.

The new roof matches the roof of Breakers East. Why do I think the rest of the original section will get the same next winter??

I saw that and didn't know if that was an improvement this year or from last year. I know it was a much needed improvement. P & D has a real thing for metal roofs...look around the park.

I would love to see them do something to the upper floors of the rotunda...on the inside. It is such a unique structure that the public really doesn't have much access too. Frankly, the rooms are just use as dorm rooms but if they gutted it and turned it into a couple of nice wraparound suites I think that would be great.

One of the limitations to that is the limited access...stairs only. But there are creative ways to fix that and I think it is a diamond in the rough.

It's from last year....

I have a picture from August 14 that shows the gray roof and I don't remember seeing construction there before the season ended.

It looks great now. It's a real good update on an old building. The rotunda's modernization is subtle enough to both be pleasing to the eye and keep a lot of the old charm to it. I'm waiting to see how the rest of that section will look if the rest of the roof is updated as well. As for the upper rooms in the Rotunda it would be nice to see them converted but I doubt they ever will. I love Breakers and always love visiting the rotunda on every trip, its very unique and beautiful. It's a big part of CP's history.
