Hey gang, how exactly does the park come up with their "new rides". I assume they go "shopping" around the industry for the "newest" and "hottest" rides, but after that, how do they decide who gets what? Is this only a "higher-up management" decision, or is there a "focus group"-type meeting with "fans" from around theindustry who give input? And what input, if any, can/ do stockholders have in their decision?
Thanks, mikey :)
Profit (aka, will this attract more patrons) would be a big factor in a decision, I imagine. Jeff?

Uh, ok. I assume they decide what they want (a couple of years in advance) and then they build it.

A bad day at CP is better than a good day at work.
There are multiple factors. The first, of course, how much profit will a ride bring in. Income such as merchandise and ticket sales.
The second is, how reliable will this ride be. Included with this is capacity. It's no secret that CP has by far the best capacity of any park. This is why CP has stayed away from Boomerangs and Invertigos.
Uniqueness is a major factor for Cedar Point. Sure, CP has it's "favorite" ride makers, but Cedar Point has done a great job getting different rides.
I hope this helps.
