On Point has a new blog entry with a poll to pick Platinum passholder ride nights for 2010. The usual suspects are to be found. As Disaster Transport was not a choice, I had to go with Maverick.

In all seriousness, I don't understand the omission at all. STR is your new ride (coaster or not), and long lines are inevitable, which is exactly what ERT is for.
I abstain from voting in support of getting STR on the ballot. :)

Let me ask you this: would you stay past park closing to ride a water ride over and over again, especially if you had to drive home soaking wet? Or better yet, would the majority of Platinum Passholders stay past park closing to do the same?
This is the research I'm conducting at the moment. Oh, and this is the kind of stuff we do in the off-season!

^^ For some reason I thought it would not be a soaker, but more like a White Water Landing experience. I must not be keeping up around here.

I certainly got the impression it was a soaker. Given the two drops and hypothetical waterfall...
I have to agree, unless I was staying the night, I don't really wanna be soaking wet at 10:00 p.m. and drive home for an hour. That could be bias though, because it's 30 degrees out today and the thought of being cold and wet sounds miserable, period, right now.
You may have gotten a different impression had you been paying attention. It has been mentioned several times that the intent is to have the "soak factor" adjustable, so that when its not very hot, you don't get soaked.

^ So, then for ERT, turn it down. A boat ride at night sounds fun to me.

"turn it down" lol, what are they gonna change the angle of the drop? Is there something I'm missing here?
Although we've established that we can adjust the water effects, we still do not know exactly how the boats will behave until we can do real-world testing.
I question holding an STR ride night only because of popularity - will the majority of Platinum Passholders want to ride this at night, when they can probably do it before park close anyway? And will they want to ride a water ride over and over again (at night)?

Yeah, even if it got you only as wet as WWL did, I'd still have absolutely no interest in riding at night.
Hell, if it didn't get me wet at all, I still don't see the point of ERT on a ride that will probably offer a lot of R's without wasting a lot of T's all season long.

I agree. I don't really see the sense in devoting one of a very limited number of ride nights to STR. Not when Millennium, Maverick, Raptor and Magnum are beckoning...

OK, you convinced me.
I put in a vote for Maverick. This is our first year back with platinums after a 2-year break, and I still have never gotten a night ride on Maverick.

I'm a platinum pass holder and I would not want to ride it over and over again at night maybe once, much rather have a coaster.
I WILL ALWAYS KICK THE SKY.

Tony,
I am afraid you are missing the point here (no pun intended)!
Your property is supposed to be a resort, and as such, you have on site accommodations. If pass holders are staying On-Point, they don't need to drive home! Why not have an STR ride night, and offer 20% off on On-Point lodging that night? Great way to drive revenue and add value to a Platinum Pass with little cost to you!
