NEW Policy with MF seatbelts?

Jeff da Beat's avatar
Well then, my question to you and others if they would like to answer is...I know that there are two ways to fasten to seat belt. One is inside the side rails on the car and the other is outside. Does it matter where it is done? Let me know if you don't understand

Okay I know I am coming into this conversation very late in the game, but I do have some questions and I hope someone can help a brotha out.

I am going to Cedar Point in about 2 weeks and like many people on this site, I have lost weight since the summer began. In two months, I have lost about 50lbs. Right now, I can fit into a 40 waist pants by Old Navy and Docker pants standards. I figure in 2 weeks, I still can lose a little more weight.

Now I remember I went last year when I was about this size (Damn college) and I remember something like a little bit of the seat belt partition (sp?) off, but I think that I was even able to pull the seat belt a little further, but I'm not sure.

My question is, with my weight, about 252lbs, height, 6'1, and waist size 40, in your opinion, do you think I will be able to ride. Also, does the seat belt really go over your waist or over your thighs?

I'm not trying to be rude but you have me curious:) You say your weight is 252, down from 302 (you said you lost 50lbs right?) ok so how in the hell are you fitting into a 40" at 252? I'm also 6'1 and when I was 252 I was lucky if I could fit into 44's, 40 was out of the question! a 40" is more for someone who is like 220 or 230, I don't know how your fitting into a 40 at 252, what is your secret? I'm just asking this because I know plenty of people who are our size in height (6'1 or 6'2) who weight 250 or less and they cant get anywhere near fitting into a 40, so I don't see how your doing it. Unless your squeezing yourself into them where they are so tight on you, you can't move??? I dunno dude, it don't make sense to me lol.

Jeff da beat:

I just saw your pics, no way are you anywhere near 252 dude! maybe 200 at the max, what scales are you using? lol. And it's not like I just saw face either, you have entire body pics up, you ain't no 252, unless your pics are not current, are they?

OhioGrad,
I am 6'2 and between 240-250 and I have no problem fitting into size 38-40. In fact, the couple of size 40's that I do have are loose enough to require a belt. It all depends on where the majority of your weight is. I do have a gut, but I also have a lot of weight in my legs which are still pretty muscular (even though my middle is getting a little soft)
So don't discount that he could weight that much and still fit into size 40 pants. It all depends on where the weight is, which is why CP says that there is no way to tell you if you will fit based on height/weight alone, it all depends on how you carry it.

John

I second that, JuggaLotus.

I'm real close to 6'0", real close to 250 pounds (usually somewhere between 240 and >250...the scale I use pegs at 250) and I've been a 38" waist for years. Sometimes the 38" trousers require a little cinching to keep 'em from falling down.

Who was still able to ride Millennium Force and Dragster the last time he tried...

I'm 6'1", 188lbs and wear a 38" waist. Add 12 pounds, and I have to add 2" to the waist. Go figure. Must mean I have a fat arse.

You know what? I've been hearing that forever. When I weighed 315, folks said that there was no way I could be that big and that in appearance, I looked like I weighed about 250. The pictures that are on my site are not current, however, they were taken when I weighed about 250 to 240.

Quite honestly, I think it is just my structure. If you've seen my picture, I have the build of a football player which means I will never be really small. I have a wider frame (not so wide that I can ride MF). I exercise every other day I am eating correctly now. My scale is fine. It just doesn't LOOK like I weigh that much. *** Edited 8/18/2004 12:26:12 AM UTC by Jeff da Beat***

I'm at 230, and 6'2". I easily pulled an inch and a half on both coasters. I wear around a 38" pant size. I guess it's all in how you carry your weight. The girl at the Guess your weight booth guess me at 207, so I must carry it pretty well.

Jeff da beat: Last week when I was riding, I noticed that the seatbelts come more over your thighs that around your waist...if that helps you at all. By looking at your pictures, you look like you might be about the same size as me. I don't think you'd have a problem on MF. *** Edited 8/18/2004 2:45:05 AM UTC by SpenceMan01***

Thanks homie. I figured they probably did go over the thighs more than anything. That's why I don't understand this whole waist thing. Your waist is between your naval and your hips.

To the person who was talking about losing weight. I have never had cancer or any other disease and I am currently 21 years old. When I was a Junior in High School I took myself from 260 lbs. to 175 lbs. in just a few days over 30 months. I worked harder than anybody I know ever could. I was that thin for around 2 years and then I had 2 knee surgerys and a thryroid disorder surfaced and I have regained all my weight and then some. I think I weight 320 now, not actually at all looking like I weight 320, most say I look 250 still but w/e. I didn't go to CP this year because of my weight but I am going to for sure try and and accomplish my goal again. So yes, it is very much possible to lose 90 lbs. in 3 months. See you at the gym.
th3digitalmind: Just head on over to PKI this year and next if your worried about your weight at CP. If you look like your only 250, I can't imagine you not being able to fit in ALOT of their rides. They got the "big boy" seats there.
"Big Boy" seats on what rides at PKI?
You're talking about PKI where I can barely get the lap bar to close on the Racer and on The Beast?

This coming from someone who has no problem with Millennium Force, mind you...nor with Blue Streak or Mean Streak, which have (sort of) the same kind of trains as Racer and Beast...

--Dave Althoff, Jr.

RideMan, have you been to PKI? I live an hour from it and visit constantly. The Beast and Racer seats are ALOT bigger than that of CP. Believe me, I couldn't fit well into Mean Streak, but Racer and Beast is a perfect fit.

No, Dave never visits parks on the weekend.

It's not the seats that are different between CP's an PKI's woodies, it's the way the lapbars and their first notches are situated that are different.

The Kings Island seats may seem a little bigger, but that is only because the lower portion of the seat divider isn't as high. On the other hand, at Cedar Point, the upper portion of the seat divider found on the Kings Island coasters is absent.

And yes, Scott is absolutely right, it's the lap bar notch positions that are very different. At Cedar Point I typically ride both wood coasters with the lap bar in the third notch. At PKI I have to squeeze pretty hard to get *one*, and they demand two.

On the whole, I wish the wood coaster trains in both parks looked more like the ones on Cornball Express...

Truth be told, I think this has a lot to do with proportions. Your stories seem to consist of people who are probably skinny getting turned away from restrictive rides. Me on the other hand? I'm 5'3"(Pretty squat, i know) and weigh in at 251 pounds. Yet, I can still get on MF and TTD and buckle my own seat belt. I don't need the extended seats on the B&Ms, the only ride I can't do is wicked twister. Probably because of my waistline size.

That's gotta be some kind of record. 13 years between replies?

It has risen! Rejoice! I never even tried milly back in 2004 because I knew I couldn’t make the seat belt. I’ve lost lbs since I grew up and am fine now. Dark times have come back to haunt me.
