New Outlet for CP Media?

MrInkspot@aol.com's avatar

Hi guys,

While surfing around the net, I found this. Does anyone else think this might become a great way to see CP's coasters over the internet?

Jeff, have you looked into casting with this medium?

This is the first I've heard of this player, but it looks pretty sweet - anyone been using it for a while? Are there already CP videos on it?

Mark

That is pretty cool... and suprisingly, doesn't cost anything.

Problem is you'd be cutting out a lot of users: Mac OS users, Linux users, and those of us not wanting to upgrade to Windows Media Player 10.

That's true but, I think it still works for most users. BTW, I was really impressed with the small, quick install. WMP was a much bigger install.

I downloaded it and wasn't impressed it was basically a bunch of video podcasts.

Anyone else have any opinions of IM? I'm trying to guage how big of an impact it'll have on online media.

I checked it out, and honestly, I think it's outside of everyone's "comfort zone". It's a great concept, but not enough so that everyone will jump off the wagon with other forms of media that are already fairly common.

It's unfortunate that things happen that way, but once you get everyone used to something, change is kind of frowned upon.

I guess that's especially true with the iTunes juggernaut in the picture, yeah?

Mark

Is this something you came up with? It seems like you're trying to promote it.

Nope. Just trying to spark some new conversation. Never mind, I guess.

Check out a program called tvuplayer 2.2.0

It has nothing to do with cedar point but if you want to watch streaming tv on your computer anywhere with an internet connection I think this thing is the best, next to maybe slingbox.

Yes, I've been searching for something like TVuplayer for a while. I have a TV tuner on my computer, but no cable run and I'm too lazy to run it, but I'd like to watch TV every once in a while on my whidescreen monitor.

At first glance, the legality of TVUPlayer seems questionable at best.

Probably a pretty good guess Walt.. From what I've heard lawsuits are already on the way from some pretty big players.

I would question the legality of some of Altavista's features as well, but hey, I'll still use it when I need it. No longer having cable (which means just C-SPAN for anything resembling news like I used to be able to get it), it is nice being able to catch CNN once in a while.

Or you could just use RSS feeds and Quicktime and then 99.9% of the world can view what you create with what's already on their computer.
