New or Renovated Trains on Arrow Coasters?

I have noticed that some parks have been updating their trains over the years to make them more comfortable and to improve the riding experience. CP has already done this with new restrains on Maverick, floorless trains on Mantis, and they have tested Gemini's trains on CCMR in the past. What do you think are the chances of this happening to CP's collection of Arrow Rides (CCMR, Corkscrew, Iron Dragon, and Magnum).

Does anyone think these moves CP would make in the future? I think if they intend to keep some of them it may be a possibility.

I've always been vocal in my dislike of the current trains on Magnum. Most of it revolves around the restraints and the closed in, "boxiness" coffin feel of the design. It's not the easiest train to get in and out of and I personally enjoy open designs. I'm sure at a bare minimum if they wanted to they could strip them down to the bare chassis and rebuild from that up with a more comfortable design with better restraints. Of the 5 Arrow rides in the park this is the only one I ever see having a realistic possibility of changing or upgrading it's rolling stock.

Corkscrew? New Vekoma trains on this ride could work but not sure if its worth it. I honestly don't see this ride sticking around much longer to see that kind of investment. If this ride is still going strong in 10+ years I would be surprised. Arrow loopers just seem to be a dying breed. Something from Gerstlauer or Mack with the vertical lift and inversions could easily replace it in that foot print or a family coaster like FireChaser Express and offer a much better and thrilling ride. I personally believe this coaster is the next one on the chopping block. Just my opinion.

Iron Dragon, I would just like to see the OTSRs go away. They're unnecessary. But again likely won't happen.

CCMR, would love to see updated rolling stock on this ride, even if it is just the two unused Gemini trains. But again, since it hasn't happened yet even after testing the Gemini trains on it I doubt it will.

I would hate it if they changed Magnum's trains. The design is fine, they have a traditional feel to them which is nice. If you don't like the restraints, just pull the seat belt very thight, then the restraints are a non-issue.

Any change to CCMR's trains would be a blessing. It's the only coaster in the park that's excruciating for me to ride due to the kind of bars it has. My poor legs always get crushed to heck. :c

Proud 5th Liner and CP fan since 1986.

I would be okay with those Arrows getting an update, but please do not put high-back seats on Magnum. The view from the first two hills is too good to block.

I agree. I hate those bars as well for the same reason.

All Arrow coasters have awful restraints, whether they're lap bars or OTSR'S

We have engineers so can design rockets to go to the moon. You would think that it would be possible to add new lap bars to Magnum that don't slice your legs while keeping the original trains.

That and taking two of Gemini's six trains for use on CCMR would be nice.

^Do more squats and leg extensions, if you build your legs up, no pain will come :)

Arrow trains need to remain Arrow trains to me. The Vekoma trains do add more comfort and may make the rides a bit more efficient (say like Corkscrew--no more pedals), but it does remove a bit of nostalgia to the ride. Think, the coaster has been there since 1976 for example, but you're riding trains from 2016. it's almost like taking a muscle car, and throwing in a brand new fuel injected motor. Yes, technically it's better, but you feel it'll never live up to the original.

I'm 6'4 and have never had an issue with the lap bars on Magnum. If you know how to sit and adjust the bar, you shouldn't have any issues. Its a great ride from the '80's, not sure why anyone would want to change that classic look or feel of the ride.

I'm in favor of replacing the trains on Corkscrew, Iron Dragon and CCMR, but please leave Magnum alone. I'd be devastated if new trains made the ride somehow lose its intensity or sense of power. New trains would almost certainly be lighter, and there is no telling how that'll affect Magnum's intensity. That said, whenever I go to Kings Island and ride Adventure Express, I'm amazed at how similar the trains are to Magnum's, but the most obvious difference is how the lap bars STAY UP throughout the ride and POP UP when restraints are released. If there was any way to modify Magnum's trains to do this, I think it would help to lessen the pain complaints that always come from that ride in addition to speeding up load times by not having guests fight to keep the lapbar up while boarding/exiting.

I honestly don't think Corkscrew will last for another 5 or 10 years.

I do. I still have faith in you, Corkscrew.

Steel Force trains on Magnum would be awesome! They don't even touch my legs when they are all of the way down. I love Magnum, but every now and then that buckle whacks me in the family jewels.

I'm all for modification/new lap bars/new trains on Magnum. I really feel like that could help out the ride's popularity. Those bunny hills on the way back are too painful.

I'd rather have Phantom's Revenge trains, if they weren't so awkward to climb in and out of.

With MS, DT, and Mantis gone, Corkscrew can be the new red headed step child of pointbuzz ;)

For me, every Arrow looper could enjoy new life if they all converted to the Vekoma vest restraint. The Flying Cobras (Carolina Cobra at the time) at Carowinds was a pleasure to ride with them. I would love to see them on the likes of Corkscrew, as well as Vortex at KI and The Viper near my hometown at Darien Lake. The ride overall would still be jerky - but no headbanging would really improve the experience.

I would hesitate on Magnum, however. The ride has such a history - I'm not sure about making such a drastic change. The B&M trains they are using on Steel Dragon do look awesome, but that is Morgan - not sure if that would work for Magnum.

CP Coaster Top 10: 1. Steel Vengeance (40 rides to date) 2. Top Thrill Dragster (191 launches to date, 4 rollbacks) 3. Magnum XL 200 4. Millennium Force 5. Maverick 6. Raptor 7. GateKeeper 8. Valravn 9. Rougarou 10. Gemini

The trains for Steel Dragon look like crap.

Am I the only one who has noticed that the more "open" a train appears to be, the more restrictive its seats tend to be? High, wraparound seat backs on a wraparound bucket seat with an extra-tight lap bar and probably a nut-buster in the middle of the seat.

I'd rather have Magnum's contoured bench seat any day.

As for Mine Ride, the problem with that one is that someone measured the original seat cushions and then had high density foam cushions made up to replace them. The difference is that the current cushions do not squish when you sit on them, so you are a couple of inches higher and further forward than you should be on that seat. If the seat cushions has been made to the "squished" dimensions of the originals, the ride would be much more accommodating.
