Hey, I went to the Sandusky website b/c I was told my father-in-law's picture was up there. (He was watching the game that will no longer be discussed at the Dutch last night.)
Anyway, while I was there I happened to notice they had a "teaser" about a story coming tomorrow from Cedar Fair that they are building a new building for Corporate Staff (and, I presume, relocating some to Sandusky from around the chain).
Anyone know more?
It is about time. I hope they relocate HR/Purchasing and get rid of that steel building in the Marina. I wonder if it is going on the Peninsula or on the mainland? I wonder if that means it is the end for the old brick building that currently houses the finance/accounting folks?
Edited to correct the HR neighbors...Purchasing. But, there are plenty of other administrative-type offices that might be included in a new building depending on the size of the thing.

What game? I don't remember seeing a game on.
There was an embarrassment.
There was a slaughter.
There was an embarrassing slaughter.
But there certainly wasn't a game on.
;)
Interesting story though. I wonder if this is finally an admission that they are running out of space. ;)

Running out of space or finally realizing there is a lot of staff that doesn’t need to be on point?
An off point administration building has been on many "wish lists" for various folks for a while now. And, if you think about it, it kind of makes sense that the only folks you would want on the peninsula during the winter are the ones that have to be there.
I'm wondering if they are looking at doing something at the "EVC" building where the seasonal staff lot is. The other option, though I think less optimal, would be just at the tip of the marina near the toll booths.
I guess we might know more tomorrow. The only reason I even bring it up is that it might lead to some ideas (when certain departments are identified for relocation) as to what facilities might be on the verge of extinction.

My comment was made with my tongue firmly in cheek. It doesn't make sense to have a lot of the non-essential staff on-point. Especially in winter. That's more buildings that need heating, more parking lot that needs clearing and more people driving further than they need to.
Move them into a building in town, streets are already cleared, as well as parking, and yes you still have to heat the building, but hopefully you are consolidating what was multiple buildings on-point into 1 building off-point.

You need to heat the buildings, yes, but you don't need to heat them to 70 degrees. The hotels are kept at fairly cool temps during the winter (with the exception of the administrative offices). In fact, back in the day it wasn't uncommon to have snow in the hallways between the old sections of the hotel. It would blow right in the doors and windows.

Heat the buildings?! The air conditioning in the Pagoda Gift Shop, from what I've been told, runs all winter!

^^ - what I'm saying though, is that rather than having to heat 5 or 6 different buildings, you'd just have to heat 1. And no, you wouldn't need to heat it to 70, but you don't want your employees fogging their computer screens as they breathe.

Well any of the buildings with sprinkler systems should be maintained at about
40 degrees. Unless they have Dry or Antifreeze systems. Most buildings don't
though.

Well they already have a Corporate office building behind Castaway. Maybe they would just add onto that? But the EVC building does have a lot of unused space inside so that could work too, and there is already a good sized parking lot next to it.
Behind Castaway? I had no idea.

Yeah, if you park outback of the hotel there is a large sign that says "Cedar Fair Corporate Headquarters” or something along those lines. It has been there since at least last winter/spring. I first saw it in early spring of `07.
If it is, and you combine that with the rumor of a possible
coaster removal, and the fact that Demon Drrop is for sale
that would be quite a large piece of proporty to work with.

The building in the picture above is the merchandise/games warehouse and the Cash Control facility. I don't know the feasiblity of moving those.
The EVC building is on the mainland across the street from the dorms (at the base of the footbridge). In my memory it was a blue building. Not sure what color it is these days as I didn't take note the last time I went by.

Basically every staff building is horribly outdated on the peninsula and even on the mainland. The recreation center is the only building that seemed to be built recently, as in maybe this decade.

There already is a corporate office building behind Castaway Bay in the Marina. They reconditioned that building last year for all the corporate transplants that they were shipping to CP from the other parks.
I've been saying for a while that they should move all non-essential offices and offices that don't have a need to be on Point to the mainland, and its nice to hear that this is finally being done. It frees up more space in the park, as well as all of the other things that have already been mentioned.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
This is the EVC Building. Or better known as the “Employee Visitation Center”. From my understanding it use to be a drive-through. Now it houses the call center. It has a lot of space in there, most of which is used for storage.
