New Law?

I was at the point on Sunday, which was an amazing day, and I was being strapped into the back seat of Millenium Force. I started conversation with the ride-op and he mentioned that there was a new law passed only in the United States that prohibited roller coasters being built over 400ft from now on. Also, when Dragster was being constructed, a former employee told me that they were building a 400 footer and a law like such was being passed. If this is true, I think this is rediculous, for any other country can continue to build higher, except the U.S. and of course Cedar Point. Will TTD be the tallest in America forever? Anyone else hear anything about this?
That Ride-Op was full of it. While there have been attempts to create a federal agency for amusement parks, there were no provisions about height. I do know that New Jersey recently passed a law limiting G-Forces, but don't know the specifics.

I seriously doubt that. Seriously. First thing's first: don't really listen to what the employees - especially ride hosts - tell you. From what I've experienced, the ride hosts at Cedar Point don't know much about coasters or anything of the like. They may think they do since they work around so many, but seriously, they couldn't tell you that Raptor has more clones than Magnum (It's true! Someone tried to tell me Magnum was the most cloned coaster in the world behind Coney Island Cyclone!).

A law being passed to prevent coasters over 400 feet? No. That's just ridiculous.

Uh, yeah, some of us do know what we're talking about. In fact, most ride hosts are either semi or full enthusiasts. Don't assume that because one person tried to act like they knew what they were doing means that all ride hosts are clueless.

Oh, don't worry, Drew. I'm not trying to rip on you or the people who do know what they're talking about. I've met plenty of enthusiast ride hosts at CP. But there were the few morons who thought they knew it all that were pretty annoying.

Basically, if you hear something outrageous like that, topchill420, don't believe them. They're full of crap.

I had a Ride host at CP tell me that Power Tower was taller than Superman The Escape once, he swore up and down that Power Tower was taller than Superman and that Superman was not 415 feet tall. I was seriously wondering if the guy just didnt know or was confused.

I also had a ride host tell me that 400 foot law lie back in August when getting strapped into Magnum. We were watching TTD launch, and I said something to my brother along the lines of "Wait untill theres a new coaster out thats taller than that monster" and the guy said "oh there wont be" and fed me the BS. So your not the only one.

Looks like The Lemon Chill Guy got promoted to a ride host!
I think the Dippin Dots guy got promoted to ride host.
I had a Six Flags ride-op tell me that CP was going to build a 300 foot flying coaster like X-Flight! I can already feel the pain.

I wouldn't be surprised if some ride-ops said outrageous stuff just to see if anyone is gullable enough to believe them. I know I would :)

It's fun to mess with people that will fall for it, but just take everything you hear with a grain of salt. Since we can't really comment on much things that deal with the park, we make up some very off the wall things. Anybody hear that Dragster's up-stops flew off at the top and landed in the Lake? Everyone's ok by the way........

The g-force law in NJ sounds like a good idea. I hear from people at school saying the g's on TTD and WT are to high and CP is taking them down. People think the taller and faster they go, the more g's there are, making them more dangerous. This is wrong, WT pulls more g's than TTD which is double the size and forces don't go above 4g's. A human body can withstand 8 or more g's. I'm not a engineer or anything this what I read somewhere.

Seriously, don't listen to what employees say, especially sweeps that make a shirt for their 200th ride on Raptor. :)

I'm willing to bet that there are just as many ops saying this crap to mess with you as there are ones who don't know what they're talking about. I'd probably do it if I could get people to believe some of that crap.

I say on the G-force issue, they just issue pilot suits that keep the blood flow going, and then build one that gets over 8g's... that'd be a rush ;)

Ok... on a serious note, how would they lower G-Forces on an already built rollercoaster? TTD with less G's couldn't make it over the top hat, and WT, with less G's would be a boring ride...

Just my imput

Oh yeah! Talk about Rollbacks!;)

Millennium Force is MY baby.
Where would we be without CP?:)

Talk about three to five hour launch intervals! TTD rollbacks due to lower launch speed... the next thing CP needs!

( They should have just took thier time building TTD, made the launch and the crest of the top hat, and then just finished it during the season... because how many actually made it over? ) ;)

Ok, end the jokes, but c'mon, turn down the velocity on a existing ride? I dont see it happening, because coasters are designed for specific speeds and certain excelleration rates... so if the speeds were turned down to meet G-Force laws or whatever, coasters would have to be re-worked, costing money... which im sure we don't to be spent on previously built rides, but we want new, bigger and faster...

They wouldn't have to lower the launch speed. They would just make the pull-up with a larger radius.
