New Impulse Idea....Back First

Hey gang, while waiting to present to the Board of Education earlier tonight, I had a thought. Is it possible to launch the Intamin Impulses backwards to start off? The anticipation for going forwards is insane already...imagine waiting to be shot backwards. Just a thought I had...

If you're like me and you think Cedar Point should get the B/M Flyer in 2004, give me a "Hell Yeah!"

I don't know if that would work. Consider the fact that the restraint could really dig into your chest and possibly knock the wind out of some people. Sounds like a dangerous thing to do
Not to mention the fact that I like my neck and don't want it snapped...

Also, there's, what? a couple hundred feet of LIMs to get it started, if they start it backwards, it would barely gain any speed. That would be cool though, especially if they did it randomly so you didn't know what to expect!

I think Mikey meant just turn the train the other way... but I agree random would be cool. That is if my head didn't subscribe to that inertia nonsense.

Yeah, its not like you have a head rest at your forehead to brace yourself on. Thats the nice thing about going foreward first.

The only change I would make to an Impulse is to turn the back seat around you so you can have a reverse POV.

Correct me if I'm not correct but don't the LIM's have more power (in WT's instance) going forward? Than backward? I am almost certain that we are launched even more on the return back through the station.
But Olympic your thought is a good one, Intamins LIM launch technology is almost as good (IMO) as S&S's air launch technology, though I believe that Intamin's launching has some limitations, I really don't think Air Purpulsion (sp) has ANY limitations!

They have the same amount of energy, the polarity is changed to affect direction but the voltage is a constant. The current is adjusted to increase speed.

In basic terms.. they have exactly the same amount of power in either direction as long as the same current is applied.
