New idea for Paddlewheel Excursion!

As the PWE course gets overcrowded with big rides in the years ahead and loses its appeal why not move it out onto Lake Erie? They could have a scenic boat ride over the lake like Indiana Beach does!
The Waves get pretty high at times on the lake. I am not sure those boats could handle the water when it starts to chop.

Those boats are NOT designed to be in rough water conditions. Besides, they would have to employ skippers with a USCG captain's license to take people out on the lake. It wouldn't be an amusement park ride anymore.

Florida may have Disneyworld and Key West,
but Ohio has Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.
It's great to live in Ohio!

Plus they would have to install floating pontoons for the animatronics (such as they are) and that might look a little odd in the middle of a big lake.

The boats are not moving off Point. However, it would be nice if boat rides around Cedar Point were available for a reasonable rate.
There's already one of them at the bottom of Lake Erie as it is.

Harley--- what do you mean "such as they are"?
Just close the ride for good, don't let it get any more chintzy then it already is...let it fade into the mists of time and have it be fondly remembered along with the Pirate Ride and the Jumbo Jet

CD, let's be real, CP doesn't know how to do animatronics or real theming. This is all hokey stuff that was a little antiquated in the 70's when at least the ride had the advantage of being in the woods so you got the feeling that you were outside the park. Now it's just fodder for bad jokes and little else.

Harley - let's be real:

1 - This isn't California. The climate around here doesn't allow for the fancier materials like latex and the latest in servos.

2 - CP's focus is RIDES....this means there is little funding for the smaller attractions like Paddle Wheel. It has potential, but sadly, CP won't put the $$ in for it.

3 - CP's people don't have the extensive training for the more fantastical stuff that Disney and other major parks have, not to mention the moviemakers. We've been spoiled with the massive amount of dazzling special effects that we see in advertising, movies, and of course other parks.

I can agree that it's on the hokey side, but give credit where credit is due. They're doing what they can with what they have. If you want something better, talk to the people who can make a difference.

My wife likes hokey:)

CD - what makes you think I disagree with any of your points? That there are reasons for it doesn't change the fact that CP's effects aren't very good.

Now them's fightin' words, ya freekin' mutineer. :P

I don't care if coaster riders scream 10 feet over my head and they erect platforms in the lagoon and mount spin-and-spues on 'em. I am in the West. I am in the West.

Frankly, if WDW can keep Jungle Cruise open (which is 10x more chintzy and right down the road from USF) why can't CP keep the Paddlewheels?
