I have heard a reliable rumor that Camper Village is, in fact, being expanded into the old Coast Guard station area for next year.
Amenities would include the return of full hookups (water, sewer, and electricity) and possibly even a swimming pool. Clearing may have already begun.
I hope so. The Campground is almost always booked. And those bathrooms are the worse than any gas station or truck stop!

The actual Camper Village expansion began during the offseason when they attenpted to turn all the primitives back to full electrical hook-ups and yes they are planning to build a pool and possibly a restaurant. The plan had been in place to do this after half of Circle A blew out electrical wise on July 4th last year. The new VP of Accomodations came in half way through the season last year and wanted to revamp the campground due to the outcry of the regular visitors. So only time will tell if they get this expansion done for next summer.

Man! I look at Camper Village and see so many better uses for that space. I would probably not have such a negative attitude if CV allowed for real camping (tents and fire rings that is).

"Magnum + Prozac= Millennium Force
i know there on a flood plain,so why dont they build a hill so we can camp in tents?
I don't see Cedar Point really doing that with a hill. I mean they make it so that all people can stay there. Whether if you have a boat or an RV. I personally would not want to walk around all day and sleep on the ground.

With the storms that blow up on the peninsula during the summer I guarantee you you wouldn't want to be in a tent. I have seen tent campers bouncing like they were on Mean Streak.
Maybe they will put in some trailers like at Disney's Fort Wilderness that people without campers could rent.
Granted, there are a lot of uses for the land that Camper Village is on, but I don't see Cedar Point getting rid of it anytime soon. First of all, as we've stated in lots of other threads, they have plenty of land to work with if they use it right. But think of this: the availability of CV allows many people that can't necessarily afford to stay in hotels for the trip still enjoy Cedar Point, especially with ticket prices going up as quickly as they are, and the park being so big that new visitors really need more than one day. And of course some people just enjoy camping a lot more like that. I'm really glad to hear that they might be upgrading the area with more amenities!

And that CV grosses well over a million bucks every season.
Lets not forget that on an average day the Camp Ground is packed. They July is full by the first.
Keep in mind that people really seem to not mind the no campfire rules simply because CP allows elevated campfires.
I don't think tents are a must but I always thought cabins would be nice.

Cabins would be really cool. Maybe somewhere down by Breakers Express. That would be a really nice way to escape yet have CP close enough!
