New DT Effects?

I rode DT today (6/15) and was wondering if the lit up stars in some of the tunnels were new or just on for the first time? Thanks.

Could just be holes where bolts are in the tunneling - I've noticed that before, but I don't know if that's exactly what you're talking about. :)

They sure seemed like new effects to me. Yesterday was probably my best DT ride ever. BTW, it was hot as hell in the building, they didn't get the AC fixed until 6:30!

Are you talking about the fiber optic stars? I think those were put in 1998 or 1999. They also have a "new" light system on the lift. They only keep about every fourth light on or so. So when to many burn out, they just switch to another row. It looks pretty good so far.

It seems like they are finally figuring out that they can still have some kewl special effects and not spend astronomical amounts of money on maintenance.

I think that strobe after the lift is new. Isn't that where the asteroid used to be?

In the first few turns, where it was pitch black at the beginning of the season, there were some strobes that would go off right as you passed them, creating a nice little effect.

Dt has effects up every year but thought the year they change it is like the ride ops are figureing out what they can play with. It makes is cool cause you never really ride the same ride twice. but you also never know when/if you will have a completely dark ride. And if you all noticed this year they have the asteriod part working at least the sound effects are it is neat. I miss it when it first opened it was really cool. with the robot up the lift and much much more stuff.

When I went on 6/14, it was my 4th time on the ride and I finnaly heard "were losing control!" Also, I think it is the drop after the brakes, if you look to your left you get a awesome view of the last helix! The red lights in the loading room were cool too!

Things that bothered me were 1. The stupid flourecesnt lights instead of the blacklights, I LOVED the blacklights, I always used to put my contacts in the light and freak my friends out. 2. There was no AC (argh! it was 85 degrees and very humid) 3. The second part of the queue (that little hallway, on the left is the painted warehouse behind the doors), the didn't have the warehouse painting lighted, well, at least that day it wasn't, it just kinda made me mad!
Oh well, I still love the ride!

They have these really neat little machines out now that simulate an explosion. I think they could replace the old asteroid projector and actually increase the affect. Don't know how maintenance is on these yet. My guess is that it's easier than a projector. Of course, it's probably harder than nothing.

The last three times I've been in the queue they haven't had the warehouse scene lighted.

They have been having trouble with vandalism there lately *I think* they shut of the lights in the entire hallway because they have been trying to cap off the old siren light. They had the wires tied, but people kept pulling them off. I doubt we will see them replaced with another siren light though. :(
