New Discovery Channel Special

I was at the park yesterday and I noticed a camera crew at Dragster early in the morning, and all over the park. I first thought that they were a news crew, but later I saw them durring a breakdown on TTD trying to get everyone in the bleachers to move their head like they are watching a train launch and I asked a TTD ride op about what they were doing. He said that they were making a new discovery Channel special on CP and they spent the last two days in the park filming, and they did the onride stuff for TTD at 5:30 in the morning that day. But he didn't say when it would air, so that kindof stinks. Oh well, I thought that I would pass the good news along to you guys.

When I worked on Wicked Twister last year, a film crew was there filming the ride for a Travel Channel special. If I remember correctly, it was May or early June. To this day, I still haven't seen it air. I hope to see it sometime because I was the one at controls when they were filming. I wouldn't count on seeing a special on TTD on one of the Discovery Channels for a while. I hope I am wrong though!

This may not always be the case, but I think that most video footage that the Discovery Channel takes isn't normally shown until the following year. Raptor Jo's Magnum spot and World's Largest Amusement Park video took a year, or at least the next season before it was shown to the public on its channel.

It's probably for Extreme Rides 2003. I recently went to SF Astroworld to be in the filming for SWAT. The show is scheduled to air on the Discovery Channel on Thursday, August 28 at 8pm central. Who knows if this is what they were filming Dragster for but it's my guess. You can go to www.sixflagshouston.com for more info about the show.

I seen a camera man in the stands last night about 730 pm. That explains it. :)

the Discovery Channel was at it again today, as they were filming on Power Tower Space Shot! There was a guy with a black thing on his finger, which at first i thought was something for blood flow, but all sorts of other camera stuff. the guy was still filming when the gondola was unloaded, so MagnumDan, ya might not be the only one on the Discovery Channel!

oh yeah, i asked a guy in a suit standing by the exit, the show is gonna be called Ultimate Rides, and is being slated for a January or February release.

I think you're both wrong, depending on where twister was when he posted. If he was near his home, it would've been around 10 p.m. as he is in the mountain time zone, 2 hours off from EST, which is what GTTP uses. The thing that puzzles me is that I think he'd have to be in the Atlantic ocean, close to Europe, for the times to match up. Perhaps he was on an aircraft carrier getting ready to catch a plane...

Let me know if you do see it... Stephanie (my dearest wife) was the one they shot on that ride.

DELETED! What time does the water show start?

jeff I was working nights about a two weeks ago so I am home sleeping

during the day, and during my eyes opening and closing I was watching

somthing on the travel channel, but I missed much of it, but they was

showing a four hour show on coasters and flat rides, but stupid me I

did not put a tape in the vcr, so I have no clue what they showed but

I have been trying to find out on there web site but no luck, my ? is

did any one see the show and was it good.

LOL, no problem. That site does a good job of keeping up with the shows on TV. Must not be any scheduled right now, because its blank. But no fear, when one is scheduled you'll see entries on that page.

I know when and on what channel this special will air.
