New Building Under Construction?

I'm tired of seeing each new thread greeted with, "why didn't you post it in that huge gignormous thread?" Sometimes new threads are pointless, but there's an entire section here for a reason.

Well said.

I posted this back a few pages but got lost in the crapola so i thought i'd bring it up again so that the few here thinking about those small openings could see what I meant, well that, and I love my Photoshop skilz so much.

The outside of the building will be surrounded by a slab of concrete which the conduit will pass through to get to the ride. Like WT's shed is here... http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=1289

Building Dimensions are as follows based on pictures I took on the 13th.

37.5 Blocks Long x 8.5 Blocks Wide

1 Block is 16"x8"

37.5x16"=600"\12"=50'-0"

8.5x16"=136"\12"=11'-3"

50'-0"x11'-3"=566.67 Square Feet

The electrical building in the permit was for a 600 square foot building. I would say that this is it.

Hey everyone, I'm a n00b but long time lurker. Is it safe to assume that with the onset of a building which could be an electrical shed, that this coaster might be a ball coaster? I DO know that the ball coaster only uses low charges of electricity for the LIMs to launch the car. Maybe this is just hope for something truly unique. I'm not sure if there are parks that host two LIM launched coasters, to me that would require an outragious amount of electricity. Maybe Cedar Point wanted to offer something different because the size and layout so far does not seem interesting enough for CP right now if it were going to offer a traditional intamin train. This is speculaton, my purpose here is to not dispute other's opinions but instead, offer an alternative idea.

Well, the prototype Ball Coaster used Box track and the 3000 feet or more of track we have seen so far is triangular track. So I doubt it.

All coasters use electricity.

Scroll down on the following page to see the ball coaster.

Fearandloathing, Kings Island has 2 LIM coasters (FOF, IJ:ST), Kings Dominion has 3 LIM (FOF, Volcano, IT:TC) and 1 Air launch (POS i mean HSXLC)

I have to disagree, the majority of track required for a ball coaster, or any intamin coaster for that matter does not neccesarily require "four-rail" track based on pictures (esp. when in your example there were not a lot of supports due to the strength of the four-rails. This does not mean the coaster could not "switch" it up and have lesser amount of rails and more support). I'm not positive but I think the weight of the car that small would have no effect on which style intamin track would be required to withstand force...

Thats true, thank you for pointing that out to me.

Another thing I'm not too sure about is if something as wide as a ball coaster (similar in width to a wing walker) could clear some areas of this layout. Cedar Point seriously knows how to keep things interesting...

The ball coaster cars do not have any means of turning side to side. That is why the models of those that Intamin offers are all vertical. You can see in this pic that the boagies do not turn laterally, they are rigid to the the car.

Edit links didnt work....see here

Just because the prototype ball coaster and the three little drawings on the bottom show no lateral movement, doesn't mean all ball coasters will be like that. I doubt that this is a ball coaster but the prototype's layout is not a good excuse to why it will not be.

So they would spend thousands or millions of dollars developing a prototype to have something to show potential customers, and then completley scrap what they have and design something new?

Do you remember the first Impulse coaster, well it had no twists. But the following ones did.

My point is, a prototype is always less complicated than the coasters following it. Same think with the ball coaster. The prototype is probably located in an empty lot near Intamins headquarters. They are not going to put a large model if it is not going in a park.

Thats an accelerator. This coaster is not going to be an accelerator because they have not set a foundation for a hydraulics building. It seems too late now.

It's never too late.

I still would not be suprised to see U.R. Dade and/or Frontier Inn gone or relocated after the season is over.

It is difficult to tell, but the Ball Coaster in Findland also appears to have a layout with no lateral turns.

Im going to agree with ya on that. My idea (though its probably stupid) is that each of those openings will have the piping for the LIM wiring. One that will go to the bottom section, which I still believe to be the launch, and the other will go to the top section which I still believe to be the lift.

Very very similar to Wicked Twister. *** Edited 8/18/2006 11:33:21 PM UTC by TTD 120mph***

I've been saying that Wave Swinger will be relocated and U.R. Dade will see its last Halloweekends this year since last month, and finally, someone agrees (at least about UR Dade). I'm not so sure about Frontier in though, but I could see them removing it if they absolutely needed to.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Well, if nothing else, Frontier Inn needs to be renovated. I also have mentioned the possible relocation if the Wave swinger several months ago. We'll see soon enough what is happening. :)
