Need some info from the CP pros!!

Very nice site! Looks like I found the right place for information. We will be at CP on 9/16 - 9/18. Perhaps some of you regulars to the park and the area can help with a few questions.

1. Is it usually crowded in mid Sept.?
2. What's the weather like temperature wise?
3. Do they sell beer or coctails in the park?
4. Can you purchase beer in grocery stores or convienence stores?
5. Are there any local clubs/bars/resturants for after the park closes at night? Any recomendations?

Whew... I sound like a alcoholic, but I know when I visit Pennasylvania, there are special stores for each item. Here in Florida, you can buy beer at any corner store, and you dont have to buy it by the case, like in PA. Just want be prepared!! Wanna concentrate on COASTERS, not looking for BEER!

Thanks in advance for any help you can give. The beer's on me when I get there! (See, alcohol again... it's a theme I tell ya!)

PARTY!!!!!

1. It's crowded beyond belief. You should go in early August to beat the September rush

2. its freezing cold. bad time of year to go

When you go, it will be Halloweeknds! (when CP puts all of their Halloween decorations up).

Is it crowded? Yes but Cedar Point is always crowded, it also seems as if the lines and such a more tolerable. They seem to move much quicker at Cedar Point then most parks in my opinion. Weather is a little hard to tell this much in advance, it can be nice and warm or cold. Beer and liquer and be purchased at variety stores and such but their "hard" liquer is only 21% I believe in Ohio. Cocktails are something I avoid at Cedar Point as they are made with malt liquer and not real Vodka. (ex. Mikes Hard Lemonade)

Ohio has both "real" booze and the watered down stuff. The marina store on Point only sells the fake booze, while Bubbles in Soak City serves the real thing. I don't understand why.

Don't forget about TGI Friday's inside the Hotel Breakers. They have what appears to be a full service bar. The downside would be Cedar Point "pricing". A 16oz draft beer at the Red Garter is $5.00, and a 20oz is $6.00.

I believe the pricing is higher than that at Red Garter.

I think it is still $5 and $6, but now you also pay sales tax.

Breakwater's bar has very reasonable prices IIRC. I also don't recall the margaritas at Famous Dave's being outrageous, though I'm not sure they were reasonable. You can also get beer, Mike's, and a few other things by the 12 pack at the Camp Store for not-quite-outrageous prices. If you want to stock up, though, you'll be better served by stopping at the Meijer on US-250 on your way in, assuming you are coming from the east. If you are coming from the west and Rt. 4, I'm not sure where the best place to stop would be. Anyone?

As a former resident of the Commonwealth, Ohio's liquor laws are much more sane than Penna's are.

who every wrote this: http://www.pointbuzz.com/faq3.htm , i give you props for making me laugh.

"Most of all remember: ANY DAY AT CEDAR POINT IS BETTER THAN BEING AT WORK. "

lmao, i love that line so much.

Here are some serious and hopefully helpful responses for you.

1. The word crowded is relative, but the weekend you're going, along with the one before it will be the two least crowded weekends of the year. Halloweekends will not be going on when you are there. It starts the following weekend.

2. The temperature should be in the range from 20-80 F. You never know. Soak City will be in its final operating weekend when you are there, so hopefully you can check it out. And since you're into alcohol, you'll wanna visit Bubbles swim-up bar. The air may be cold, but the water will be warm.

3. Yes and yes as others have said.

4. Yes

5. Yes there are, but I've never been to any of them.

As for beer and alcohol...
Any gas station will have beer for the most part, alcohol can be purchased at a regular grocery store, ie Kroger, Meijer, etc, but only up to 40 proof. Anything greater than 40 proof has to be purchased at a state liquor store. There is only 1 that I can find, and it's at 1318 Tiffin AVE US6/SR101, on the west side of town.

I knew you guys wouldn't let me down! Thanks for the info, (and the tongue in cheek too)!

What about local resturants and nightclubs? Anything good close by? After a long day in the park, the wife will want a nice sit-down dinner.

Again, thanks for sharing your knowledge. Look for the Florida Coaster Club invasion on 9/16-18th. Were easy to spot... "We Ride All Year"
