im trying to get a hotel for opening weekend
now i gess for some reason i cant rent a room because im not 21 *althought last year for halloweekends i rented a room and i was only 18 at that time...*
now im wondering is it just the big hotel chains that are like that?
are there any small motels or anything that dont care that i could call and make reservations?

I was in the same situation last year. There are some in town that have a minimum age of 18. I stayed at the Super 8 last year during Halloweekends and paid $60 for 1 night. It was a nice hotel. I would recommend it to you. If you go to google and type in Super 8 Sandusky North, you will find it.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
Once again, I have to recommend the Maples Motel. A nice hotel for what it is, and you don't have to be 21 to rent there, I don't think.
I'm becoming as bad as MrScott with LHP. :)

I haven't updated this in a couple of years, but it should still be a good start:

A few of those hotel's polices have changed. Even the list the Visitor Bureau gives is totally off.
General rule of thumb is the farther you get from the park, the easier it will be to get a hotel room if you are under 21.
I recommend the Super 8 in Sandusky or the Motel 6 by the turnpike (alittle farther away, but is really nice for the price).
Best thing to do, regardless of what even the hotel's very own website says, is to call the hotel and ask. I can't tell you how many times the hotel's official website contradicts what the hotel's official policy is.
The Howard Johnson at the end of the Causeway use to let you stay if you were under 21. You can't get much closer then that without staying at a Cedar Point Resort.

i called them and they said i had to be 21 to check in so i dunno maybe they changed?
i just got my reservations at the Value inn was only 105 for 2 nights
thanks for all the help
Yeah, they changed then. Because that is where I would stay before I was 21. But that was a long time ago though;)
