Nasty Route 2 crash

He has on his record posession of dangerous drugs. They are just doing their job and going by peoples' statements. If I was involved in the case, and I saw that he had posession on his record, I would do further testing too.

My point exactly, Walt. Just because you didn't drink any alcohol (or take any other impairing substances) doesn't mean that you're going to be okay to drive home after a long day in the parks.
There is NO WAY I could have driven out of the park ANY of the 3 days that I was there recently, safely. I was DONE all 3 days.

Walking (and or limping) to your room works better.

Looke like they were right to assume that he was impared. He tested + for Marajuana and Valium.

I sit corrected.
I just hope that he gets charged with Vehicular Homocide. It is so sad that 6 people were killed, and a child left to wake up to find out that her family is gone.

In my opinion, if you get behind the wheel chemically impared, and you kill someone (or in this case, many) You should be charged with Murder 1. I feel that that should be classified as premeditated. I know I will get negetive feedback on this, but I have lost someone close to me due to a drunk driver 7 years ago, and he was released last month.

I have to agree CDDTFITB, although I wish the US would adopt some stricter drunk driving laws, similar to whats in Europe. 1 and youre done. If you get caught drunk driving (accident, pulled over etc) you lose your license for life(although I could settle for 5-10 years). If you get caught driving without a license thats been suspended for DD, then 5 years, you can fill in the rest.
It will never happen though because our politicians would never be able to get to work again.

I also never understood why killing someone while DUI isn't at least Murder 2. For some reason, the excuse of "I didn't MEAN to kill anyone" reduces it to a Manslaughter case. Anyway, I can go off on a whole rant about this. But won't. I just hope the guy gets locked up and turned into Bubba's bxtch.

I just hope the guy gets locked up and turned into Bubba's bxtch.

I would love to see that! If you seen his picture, I don't think any prisioner would want him for his "bxtch"!

In the very LEAST, I hope that he gets 6 counts of manslaughter, which in Ohio would equal to 42-48 years, but I would love it more to see him walk the Green Mile!

I agree with you too, Jugga. If you are stupid enough to get behind the wheel impared, then you should never get your license back. Driving is a privlage, not a right. At least OH is getting a tad stiffer on their DUI laws. Most judges will suspend your liscense for a year, with no work privliges. Some even will make you have the yellow plate after your 1st one, which means anyone with one of those plates can be pulled over anytime, for no reason. I have seen a LOT of yellow plates lately!

But In my opinion, that is WAY to lienient!

The 42-48 would only matter if they made them served consecutively, a judge can make it concurrent which would get him out 7-8 years which would SUCK. That's a nice idea with the Yellow plate thing.

It's not been determined that he was chemically impaired with Marijuana, testing positive could be anything from a trace amount to a large amount. Also, Valium isn't an illegal substance. There are tons of people on the stuff driving around every day, I highly doubt charges will be filed if Valium was used per a doctors' prescription.

A lynch mob mentality isn't going to help anyone, what ever facts there are will come out in court, if charges are eventually filed.

You are wrong to lump Europe into one pile. DUI laws vary by country, and the penalties vary.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Well, I am quick to judge, just looking by his history. I have no doubt that he'll be put away.

I'm not saying all European countries have the same laws, but as a whole they are generally stricter when it comes to drunk driving when compared to the US.

Second, Valium is a tranquilizer. I've never seen a bottle, but odds are it says on the side of the bottle (if they were with a script) "Do not drive or operate machinery". If he took one (with or without doctors orders) and got behind the wheel he is DUI regardless of it being a legal substance. I'd be very scared if there are "tons of people on the stuff driving around every day". Yes there are tons of people who use it, typically as a sleep aid, but I doubt very many of them are driving while having recently taken a dose.

John

I have been on Valium for over a year because of a stroke, granted, I can't drive because of the stroke, but driving while on Valium, I would never attempt it. It is a depressent, It slows your reaction and thinking. It is sad to say that more people use it recreationally than for medical reasons.

John: My bottle says "Caution:Federal law PROHIBITS transfer of this drug to any person other than the person for whom it was prescribed, (I think all meds say that though) May cause drowsiness. Alcohol may intensify this effect. Use care when operating a car or dangerous machines. Obtain medical advice before taking non-prescription drugs as some may affect the action of this medication."

My Dr. told me absolutly NO ALCOHOL. I was stupid a few weeks ago, and I had one beer. I was extremely drunk after just one, and I know that my BAL would have been WELL below the legal limit. Plus he had marajuana in his system. I am sure that they asked him if he was on any prescribed medications before they tested him.

You're 25 and had a stroke? Wow... that's odd.

Yeah, I know. The scary thing is they have no clue why!

Let's go straight to the Merry-Go-Round!

A guy I work with is only 23 and just had a stroke. He came down with bacterial meningitis and his body was unable to fight it because he had a run down immune system and was diabetic. His brain swelled and the doctors told his parents to prepare for the worst. Well he survived and is thankfully doing better now. Pretty scary stuff.
Jeff, It's not odd at all. I had a stroke when I was about 10 because of an avm. Make a long story short, now that I'm 26 I'm in good health considering the amputations.....kidding about the ampu. I am fine though and I do believe you have to play the cards that you are dealt to the best of your ability. On another note, maybe that guy will think twice before smoking that mary jane while on valium in his new residence behind bars.
